Questions about Tailgating outside of Cowboy Stadium...

I have never been to the new Cowboys Stadium, so I don't know what to expect in terms of the tailgating scene. Unlike LSU's campus, that has tons of trees and buildings to help you escape the sun and the heat, I am guessing we won't have that luxury around Cowboy Stadium. So, unless you have a tent or acccess to a tent, you're at the mercy of the sun...would this be a fair assessment?

Correct. The grass areas around the perimeter of most lots are considered free game. You cannot set up tents in the lot though. For Cotton we didn't have a problem grabbing a grassy area even at noon.

Yes, and the "tailgating" spots are limited. First come, first serve.

In January we basically just boozed out of the back of the truck. I hope we get some overcast weather on Saturday afternoon, if not, I'll probably hit up someone I know with an RV. Shade is non-existent.

I think the high will be 102 on Saturday...

I hope you/they aren't serious with this rule. I will pretend I didn't see this and set up our tent anyways, it's not a big tent so I doubt they will say anything really

The weather was perfect for the cotton bowl, from what i remember there were tailgate partys set-up around the perimeter of the stadium, very open area though with no cover.

Spots are for cars only. You've got to remember that tailgating for pro football is totally different than college.

There are spots reserved for tailgating, but they are first come/first serve...

The grassy areas (aka non paved) are first come first serve and you do whatever. It's not ideal but we made it work for the Cotton.

Around the perimeter of each lot, there are spaces that are grass. You can back into these spots and drop your tailgate, setup in the grass area. If you're planning on doing this, I'd get there early and bring a tent. Not much shade out there.
You can try to set up in the lot- they will make you move. At least that's what I saw at the Cotton Bowl. There are parking attendents and cops out there- it's not a free-for-all.
My parents live in DFW and said they're predicting cooler weather than usual- 98.

What time does the lot open up? I heard around 2 from someone working for LSU, but I couldn't find anything else on it.

I read you can use propane or charcoal grills but no open flames. No fryers.
No Cajun microwaves....

I read this the other day. Some posted a link of things you can/can't do at Cowboy Stadium. Said he got it off of their website or something.
You should be good to go, man! You gonna cook up some ducks?

This site has a lot of information about tailgating at and around Cowboys Stadium (I've posted it on a few other threads). They advocate private lots, where there are no restrictions against Cajun microwaves (or tailgating on pavement). Some of the private lots on the East side of the stadium are office buildings, and have more trees, but the West side seems to be pretty much concrete (businesses). I'm going to a lot on the East side and am hoping to get some shade.
