I think a case can be made for both heading into the Oregon game. For one, Lee leads a team with national title aspirations against the number 3 ranked team in the country, on the road, in a prime time game. That kind of pressure can be mind-boggling.

However, I think you can also make the case that Lee will be much more relaxed than we have seen him in the past. Perhaps he will embrace the role as a starter with significantly more confidence than he has had in his first couple of years. Also, unlike 2010, he will not have the burden of wondering when he would be called on and when he would be taken out. In 2010, when it was 3rd and 11 and Lee was in, he had to feel pressure to convert or else he would be replaced the next series. I think that led to some poor decisions and forced passes. Now, when LSU gets in 3rd and long, he can dump it off underneath and take what the defense gives him, knowing that he will be back out there on the next series.

How Lee handles the first 3rd down and long will be a sign of how the game is going to in my opinion. Good luck kid!

He'll definitely have pre-game jitters, as will all of the athletes. But JL has been in big, primetime games plenty of times. He'll be fine.

between his freshman year experience and being thrown into crucial situations in huge games last year...I think he'll be ready.

I think him not having to look over his shoulder will help his confidence.

JL is a winner.

I think he showed a glimpse of what he's capable of last year.

This year- he gets his chance.

Geaux Jarrett!!!

Lee has seen soem serious pressure and he's played with cool. He is going to surpass many people's expecctations this season. From every report in the Spring to Fall practices - he was the best statistical QB. He played very well just about every time he was put into the game last year and out performed JJ most every time. Like you said "Lee felt the pressure to convert" every time he was in last year - he needed to be perfect just to get playing time. He will most certainly be a smarter player this year than he has been in the past.

It will be better if the defense starts...........Lee will be playing in Texas. He has waited and prepared for this for four years........He is now on a different team than 3 years ago.

For all the negative issues about Lee, I hope he will do ok. He doesn't have to do much. He just has to rely on the others to do their job..............

He did great when he came in and beat Bama, Fla, and ........He will do fine.......

In my opinion, Jarrett proved last year in 3 drives that he can handle pressure. The last drives versus Tennessee, Florida, and Alabama were all do or die situations against SEC competition. He is gonna do some serious work this fall.

Definitely.

If the tables were turned, I would say the same for Jefferson. Competition can make you play much harder, but it also makes you play careless. At defensive end, it is not a problem, but you cannot have your QB playing like that.

i totally agree slackster, of course he will have the usual butterflies, but compared to what he has already weathered........ it was all preparation for this! IMO, he comes out on top!

A lot of u guys were down on him the first year, but he was thrown in the fire when RP was dismissed. Lee won 3 games for us last year. He will be fine!

He got put in pressure situations last year having to bail out JJ

We would have easily lost both the Tenn and UF games

A loss to Tenn could have been detrimental to the program IMO

He also made a clutch play against Bama (although JJ played really well that game) that helped us seal the deal.

So you could argue that his clutch play got us 3 big SEC wins last year. And sadly we were getting shut down by McNeese until he came in the game

I think the pundits seem to have forgotten that Lee has started many games before. Starting in this game cannot be any more pressure than starting in the games '08 where he had to be consumed with self-doubt.

I would love for JL to shine.

Yup

And as far as the UF game goes we would have never even been in the game were it not for him

He performed admirably last year, but that is a totally different pressure. If he fails last year, most of the blame still would have fallen on JJ because he was the starter.

Saturday, it will be Lee or bust. The game is fully his responsibility as a starter. I am sure he will do great, but it is a different situation altogether.
