A&M is a senior military college, one of only two major universities (VT is the other). Their origin is like LSU, mandatory ROTC, but they were all male. They didn't allow women until like the late 60s or so. After that the school exploded in size. While I guess the core is a pretty small component now, they have an inordinate impact on the culture and identity of the school.

It's the largest ROTC in the country. But it only commissions about 40% of members.

It paid for my undergraduate education, and I got to see garden spots like the Korean DMZ and Tikrit, Iraq.

Sounds like a nice study abroad program.

About 45% of the Corps goes on to military service after graduation. Its not mandatory. The aggie band is part of the Corps. They do tend to do some odd things (trust me people at A&M think they can be very weird at times). Note though that the Corps is like 1% of the student population. What ticks me off is that they all sit together during football games. So during t.v broadcasts the cameras focus on them, instead of all the hot girls we have on campus.

so true. every time i see a clip of an aggie game, it's of the corps or the yell leaders.

Drunky, here you are a grown man, acting like a child saying, "Ask about the jizz! Hey, ask about the jizz!" 100% UT Cock-gobbler right there...

This jar thing is an urban myth that grown homosexuals like you have pounced upon because, well, you know, it's jizz and you're queer

Blame me partly for that one. The Class of '98 corps commander and I thought it would be a good way to keep some of the cadets from going back to the dorms and chilling and coming into the games late. We were trying to build solidarity and accountability in the Corps; however, we apparently renewed divisions vis-a-vis the student body and got some bad screen shots along the way ...

The very definition of unintended consequences.

IS IT GAMEDAY YET?

Proof?

I was in the Corps, I never head of such a thing until a year or so ago.

Strangely, he seems to speak the truth over here

quote:

It is looking that way right now. Nebraska, Colorado and A&M, all schools woefully inferior to Texas, sure look like they will be in exponentially better conferences than Texas.....and that matters, especially to recruits. We have mismanaged our way into long periods of irrelevancy before......

quote:

We have gone through long periods under Dodds without the level of success at which we all agree Texas should perform. Why? Because of talent - recruits. And it hurt us in the pocketbook at the time. Mack's genius as a recruiter has made us crazy wealthy but I am afraid that this shite conference could take a serious toll on us in terms of recruiting. Is that thinking just as a fan?

Dodds has been at Texas since 1981. If, as others say, he's so smart, wtf was he doing the first 15+ years of his career.. cuz texas sucked back then.

I was critical of ya'll earlier when you were talking up your program due to some unrealistic expectations, but I can understand your school pride. So, I apologize for jumping the gun. My initial impression must have been wrong about the Ags. Welcome Aboard the SEC!

This was a pretty cool thing for you to do, despite the unintended consequences.

There's nothing wrong with being proud of who you are. And if you get some hot female cheerleaders on your sidelines, most people (and the cameras) will quickly forget about focusing on the Corps.

I can't wait to hear the S-E-C chant at the Big 12-2-1 games this year!
