I think it will be:
Oklahoma
Missouri
Texas
West Virginia, Pitt, Syracuse, or Rutgers

Maybe a Big Ten person can explain this to me. Did the Big 10 turn Mizzou down the last time around?? I thought they rejected them, and if so what was the reason?

Yes, only because they wanted Nebraska first. I don't think the Big ten felt the Big 12 would dissolve this quickly. If it does, their hand will be forces to go to 16 teams.

Missouri would be first on their call list as well as Notre Dame, might as well give them a try. If they don't get Notre Dame, then they will get someone out of the Big East like Pitt or Syracuse. That's if they decide to stay at 14 teams.

interesting.
I wonder if Mizzou is sitting back having to wait and see what happens (if anything) with Oklahoma.

Are ya'll still going to be the Big Ten if ya'll go to 14 or 16 teams? Can't wait to see who is added to the Leaders and Legends divisions.

They've been the Big 10 with 11 teams, now 12.
Big 12 will still be called that with 9 teams
Numbered conferences suck.

But the Pac-10 is going to the Pac-12. If they go to 14 or 16, there should be no ambiguity with being called the Big 14 or Big 16. Names for the divisions is another issue.

Lets hope those go away if this happens...or even if it doesn't.

If you could get Texas and Oklahoma, I think you take those two. But apparently there is some issue with Oklahoma and the academic requirements in the Big 10. But why wouldn't the Big 10 openly pursue Notre Dame? They are a perfect fit for the conference.

I think the only non AAU school that they would take is ND. The rest of the most likely AAU candidates in no particular order:
GaTech
Iowa St
Kansas
Maryland
MO
Rutgers
NC
Pitt
VA
Duke.
Texas
I struggle thinking ACC schools would go, but if they did, the ACC would collapse and the Big East shockingly would probably be the surviving conference. Most likely candidates would come from the Big 12 and Big East.

Pitt and Mizzou are the only schools that i think fit in acadmically from the op's list. not sure about rutgers, but i could see big 10 taking them and syracuse to get new york.

They have invited ND several times in the past but ND seems to think they are too good. I say, they've had their chance...the Big 10 needs to move on to others.
Texas, right before the Bog 12 was former joined the Bog 10 in Principle, but then opted for the Big 12.

I agree with this. B1G is not going to expand just to expand. They are happy where they are at, but if an opportunity comes up to grab ND or a schools like Maryland or Virginia, then they will probably pull the trigger.
I think the B1G will stay at 12 for a long time.

RedHawk,
I do agree with you. I only believe the Bog 10 will expand if other conferences start to get bigger and it will then force them to expand as well.

If there are changes in the BCS whereas ND doesn't get the automatic consideration like it does now I think they would join the big ten with the understanding that the Big Ten add an eastern team for 14.
I think that Rutgers would be a good team if they added ND since they are part of the New York Market which is important for ND and let's be honest they wouldn't be an immediate title contender. Rutgers has the academics, but the administration doesn't want to go nuts on athletics so it might be like adding a Northwestern.
