I see some argument for mizzou and va tech - NC I don't really. They are a storied basketball school and the games against duke, nc state, wake forest, and maryland would be lost so they can lose a lot of football games? I don't see the return for them frankly

Mizzou is not a perfect fit (their regional rivalries with kansas and illinois make them a better fit for the big 12 or the big 10) but I could see them added as a power play for the missouri television markets. I don't think that would ultimately be all that successful though. STL and KC are more pro sports towns (esp cardinals and chiefs) than they are college sports towns and what interest they have in college sports would really have to be shored up with games in STL vs Illinois and in KC vs Kansas to maximize the interest of those cities in the state's flagship university.

Va Tech seems like a reasonable fit culturally and geographically - if they are not tied to Virginia (and if they think they can take a step upwards and compete successfully in a better conference).

I'd prefer UNC but I don't see it happening.

If A&M leaves the Big 12, that adds momentum for Mizzou to jump, too.

That virtually assures the disintegration of the Big 12 (8) in short order.

In order for 14 teams to make sense, we need more superconferences to form.

I know nothing about Maryland, except that they are turtles.
