Meh. To me, VT is just an average football team.

A&M is also an average team. But too many powerhouse schools in one conference would cause problems in winning BCS titles barring a true playoff system.

VT gets you new markets (Virginia, maybe also DC) and expands your geographic footprint. VT and A&M are nearly identical in their history (VT is older by four years, both are land-grant ag schools and Senior Military Colleges -- the only two schools having a SMC within a comprehensive public university) so they are perfect rivals.

(My cat wishes to point out that each university operates its state's respective vet school. She will now go back to her tuna bowl.)

NC State would be a good choice (and if SEC goes to 16, it should be #15) but VT is my first pick for #14.

Mizzou would bring more to the table. But they are in the west

VTech would be most Aggies first choice.

I'd love to have Mizzou and if VT doesn't budge then I think they are our 14th team. We could move Auburn to the East. But VT brings a LOT more television sets than Mizzou and keeps the current divisions as they are now. Could easily see Mizzou and NC State as 15 and 16.

But Mizzou really wants a B1G invite. If you invite them can you count on them to stay, or do you always wonder if they're going to bolt for the B1G at the first opportunity?

The SEC prides itself on stability (only three members have left, and none since the 1960's). Why add instability to the mix?

Mizzou will always be someone's bitch - they always have been. If we let them in then make it contingent on something like a $50,000,000 buy out subject to a change tied to the consumer price index.

I think one thing most A&M fans don't realize is that the 14th team would likely be our permanent cross division rival that we play every year. I know I sure as shite would rather have that be Va Tech than FSU. FSU seems to be on the rise again and we have all seen how much of a powerhouse they can be. I would not want to play them every year cross division. VTech is a solid program and have been much more successful than us recently, but I think we could beat them much more consistently and they seem on the downswing as Beamer's career is likely winding down.

Vtech has Frank Beamer and had Michael Vick and that's about it.

Other than football and at best a questionable and divided TV market, they bring nothing.

You obviously know nothing about television markets.

I know the Piggies want Mizzou and I have no problem with them. But let's all be honest about what the situation is.

Show me how VT controls the big markets, and how the other regional teams do not at least share. That's fair.

Washington, DC, Richmond, Roanoke, Hampton Roads, etc. I'm not going to take the time to look it up again, but VT brings more televisions than Mizzou.

Which would make for a perfect permanent cross-division opponent.

I know many of our alumni came away very impressed from the Hokies trip to College Station. The Hokies and A&M are a natural match, that is if the Hokies join the SEC.

My parents went to LSU, so if we we made the move it would make for some interesting Saturdays in the fall.

More info -- looks like Mr. SEC (reportedly a reliable source) is saying VT is the top choice for team #14

A&M has a good vet school. The vet I used in New Orleans went there.
