Everyone has messed up vertebrae. Some have pain. Some don't .
Some have a lot of pain with minor damage . Some are pain free with a lot of damage.
Case by case.
This is a very good point. something crazy like 70-80% of MRIs will have some sort of degenerative changes+bulging disks on perfectly healthy asymptomatic people
ETA: Didnt the lawyer get the kid to get an MRI AFTER he went to the ER?....Sounds like this aint the lawyers first rodeo.....
BTW if the players broke the kids back they need to be kicked off IM just discussing this from a medical and legal perspective

well this is now a fact that's out then.
I am going to need to see a medical release, doctor's signature, and proof of a PHD.
Also pics of wife and how they spent last year's salary before I believe it as fact.

Go to a PI attorney. Tell him you were hit by a truck and have three fractured vertebrae. See how wide he smiles.

I don't have any of those for you, but the BRPD spokesperson in the press conference today was quoted (I heard it live on the radio) that the injuries included 3 fractured vertebra.

Not good enough. He doesn't have the criteria to diagnose such an injury without a medical diagnosis, xray's, or MRI.

Could have had fractures before the fight..who knows...surly, they will check out his background...this guy was looking for trouble,..he found it...but it didn't turn out like he though it would...HE GOT HIS arse KICKED..

Anyone notice that the interrogation of the 4 football players took place at the VIOLENT CRIMES UNIT on the Louisiana State Police Headquarters campus at Independence Park.
May be a sign of things to come!

Exactly. Enough with all of this speculation and trying players in the court of public opinion. Everyone is innocent until they are proven guilty and only until someone is proven guilty in a court are they really guilty.

I had 4 fractured vertebrae, no biggie
I swam across the English Channel the next day to prove that it was no big deal for this exact situation

Vertebrae come different ways, meaning there are different areas that could fracture. There's a "wing" on each side of the "body" that might be what they are referring to or there's a vertebral "process" that pokes out. This is usually what you see protruding, say on a person bending over to pick something up. Ligaments/ muscles attach to these, can be pretty uncomfortable.

Gotta have liability, deep pocket, damages.
LSU not liable.
Players don't have deep pockets.
Only chance is to get bought off quick.
Doubtful.
Plaintiff lawyer will have to really thread the needle.

My son has a degenerative back condition. Fractured his L-5 lifitng weights in jr high and wore a brace for 4 years. Had to have surgery 3 times so far with a set of 4 titanium screws finally getting it to set. Screws have been removed. He's been through alot of pain and deals with it every day with just 1 so I can only imagine what this guy is about to endure with 3.
