Why do people keep comparing this to other fights in Tigerland?

This is not just another fight. This is high profile guys. They know what they are getting into when they sign the scholly. If they wanted to be treated fairly in public they should of not played football for a top school. I am not saying that is right but that is the way it is. Also, I have seen many fights in TL and not many end with more than a bloody nose and some ego issues.

Because their want for a successful football season has clouded their judgment.

Mouth off to the wrong people and get your arse beat. Happens to the best of us. Pressing charges? That's a shitty move.

Agree 100%. I know people who have gotten their arse beat by football players, they just took their arse whipping and went home to think about how they shouldnt have fricked with those guys.

I agree with that, it is a pussy move but the move was made. Now we can not compare it to other bar room fights.

This isn't the first bar fight around LSU where football players beat somebody's arse. It's probably not even the first one this summer.

But, but, but one of the victims was a marine, no way he would be antagonizing anybody, he was just minding his own business, hell he wasn't even drinking that night

We live in an increasingly pussified society. Once you got in a fight, got beat, and went to get bandaged/stiched up, and went home. Next weekend you looked to get back at them.

Now you get your arse beat and you hunt for someone to sue.

I've seen fights at Tigerland and Chimes street where the loser looks waaaaay more fricked up than what I saw in the fight in question. Hell I've had my arse beat worse than that. I don't know the true condition of the other three guys obviously.

Whatever makes you feel better. I do know a guy who got had a broken bone in his face from a fight with a football player, but he knew he started the fight and moved on.

ETA: Granted this was in the 90s so the players were much less high profile.

I don't know what kind of person looks and thinks "Hey, look at that group of HUGE black people. I'm going to go ahead and piss these guys off. It's bound to end well." No one has any real idea of how everything actually went down, but based on the guy's history and record he wasn't polite about whatever he said.

If it were 4 LSU football players in the emergency room (starting QB with 3 broken vertabrae) would these posts be very different?

This is all speculation!!!!
Football players are bigger and stronger than almost everyone, higher profile and well informed about these risks. They have to walk away...they cannot react immaturely...they cannot strike smaller people unless they are in obvious danger...they were dumb to be there at the time and dumb to react the way they did, to bow-up, to do whatever they did. I have never sued anyone, but if someone bigger than me was beyond reasonable and seriously hurt me, I would sue.

I've seen more than one fight in Tigerland that involved football players and nothing came of it. Although this appears a little more severe and the sheer number of players there make it more noticeable, I think this is being blown WAY out of proportion.

Even if your big mouth or aggressive action started the fight.

Wait I have an idea for you.

Go out to some biker bar.
Mouth off or worse to some big dude.
Get your azz beat up.
Sue him and if he has any money at all.
If he doesn't you can sue his outlaw motorcycle club.
Retire with a bundle

Looks like a plan.

There is a difference though. Since they are LSU football players they get off scott free. If it were you or me we would have been handcuffed on the spot and spent the night in the slammer.

I am viewing it from my normal behavior, which is not to run my mouth. I have also been in fights, but they were either based purely on self-defense or because one of my drunk friends did something dumb.

If I was on the ground, regardless of what I had done, short of really trying to hurt someone, and I was getting kicked by bigger people and bones broke or I suffered expensive permanent damage, YOU ARE DAMN RIGHT I WOULD SUE AND MAKE IT A MESS FOR THE SCHOOL OR THEIR EMPLOYER.

I am a Veteran, a former college athlete, etc...I have been abused, but I WOULD SUE.

My freshman year in 06 a bunch of older guys that I knew from my high school got into a huge fight with a bunch of football players outside of Reggies. One of them got dropped with with a championship ring which was a funny sight. They didn't hire a lawyer, they realized they ran their mouth to people they shouldn't have and went home. Its funny to see the people on here who think this is the first time this stuff has ever happened. Its just the first time a kid was a vag and went to the police after he got his arse beat.
