I posted on another thread about how crappy the Visitor sections are at A&M. They are so bad that we have received complaints in the past from other schools. I thought I would shed some light on who is taking the better sections. It isn’t the Big Money Donors that you would think.

The Students do not get a section at A&M. They get a side. The three sides of Kyle field being the Former Student (West) Side, The Zone and the Student (East) Side. The student “section” set a record at A&M as the largest in the Nation during the Nebraska Game Nov. 20, 2010 with 31,500 students. The seats available to the students come at a discount price and happen to be some of the best at Kyle Field. The areas allotted to are half of the first deck and the entire second and third deck on the same side as the visiting teams bench. (Sections 142-136; 224-239; and 324-339.)

The students “pull” their tickets every week before a home game based on seniority. (Monday-Seniors, Tuesday-Juniors, Wednesday-Sophomores, Thursday-Freshman) They are first come first serve so the earlier you pull the better seat you get. Many students will camp out for days before a pull in order to pull better seats. As the seats are re-pulled every week you aren’t sitting/standing in the same spot or with the same people all year. Don’t like you seats for one game get there earlier for the next game.

Youtube of Student Section

If remember correctly the SEC might have a rule on Students and Bands sitting directly behind the visitor teams. It will be interesting to see how they will adjust it.

Good to know, I like a lot of that.

If admitted to the SEC, finishing the stadium (i.e. enclosed the remaing end zone) would complete the look and provide room for visitor seating.

Also, do ramps "N1" and "N2" indicate "North? If so, should the chart/image be flipped?

your leaving alot of money on the table.

In the SEC the Students would not have as big of a section.

demand will be high.

Sure, but having 31k students at a game is pretty badass. Any student that wants a football ticket gets one. It beats other schools where you enter a lottery or give out tickets based on completed hours.

NF. Have pledges camp out for you, then show up to the game whenever you please. No sooner than the end of the first quarter, and be obnoxiously drunk. You Aggies have a lot to learn if you want to fit in in the SEC.

This is what block seating student season tickets are for.

That's been a complaint for years, but it's one of those things that makes the atmosphere so unique that it would be difficult for any administration to change. That's what makes the stadium so loud. 30k college students screaming vs. grandma and grandpa alumni.

They are in the process of lining up donations right now to redo the 1st decks of both sides. This would require MAJOR reconstruction and talk is that it would enclose the open end as part of the 1st deck recon.

Rumor is that we'd play a season's worth of home games between Reliant, Cowboy Stadium and the Alamodome to accommodate a quick construction project.

A&M does an excellent job of taking care of their students, and the students return the favor by showing up, staying loud and through the end of the game

A&M's student section has been great

expect to hear a lot of "wearing the same color is stupid" from LSU fans around the maroon out game

Frats do that, also make them watch the tents during the game of course

It's not hard to do both, you just have certain people in your group alternate watching the tent while some go to class. Rocket science, I know.

Maybe its just me but I always figured it would be a bad idea to put a student section next to an away section. Almost seems to be asking for trouble.

The side shown with the "N" is the north side, the orientation is just off. The Zone, which is the closed in endzone, faces north.

I seriously doubt we will change anything about the way our ticket system is done unless the SEC demanded we move our student section. The uproar among students/former students would be insane if this happened.

Your student section will NOT be arse big in the SEC.

Demand for season tickets will be so high that the seating will bleed into the student section and therefore it will half as big.

On the plus side the extra revenue and demand will push for yall to finally add on to the stadium.

Why? It seems like an inefficient and pain in the arse way to go about it. So you can't buy student season tickets?

I'm too lazy to look it up, but the only large fan bases in the Big 12 are A&M, Texas, and Oklahoma. The others are pretty small. Trust me, there will be WAY more people there.

We aren't saying demand won't be big, were saying our school wont change the way student tickets are done. They will just increase the prices of the season tickets to respond to the demand, not add more season tickets. They won't make the student section smaller, it will be the same size.

When the student section was full last year against Nebraska, they put students down on the field on the playing surface. That was a big reason why it was so loud

You absolutely can and have to in order to get a ticket. When you go choose to get your ticket and who you go with, along with your age, determines where you sit. If you buy a football sports pass, you are guaranteed a ticket to every home game though.

Our student section is pretty sacred. We would likely add onto the stadium before ever downsizing our student allotment. It's a point of pride for us.
