freaking border state

Let me give you a short history lesson you ignorant bastard.

Missourians fought what was truly a civil war long before Fort Sumter and long after Appomattox. In Missouri it was intensely violent and personal.

During the so called Civil War there were more battles fought in Missouri than any other states except Virginia and Tennessee.

It chaps my arse when so called Southerners scoff at Missouri. If the rest of you went through what they did then you would have surrendered in four days instead of four years.

ETA: Did you know that for a summer Stonewall Jackson lived in present day Mississippi County, Missouri on an island in the Mississippi River near his great aunt and uncle? Did you know that his uncle settled in Ste. Genevieve County, Missouri? I thought not. Educate yourself.

Get over yourself. Misery was a freaking boarder state. Their own people split between north and south. It was personal because neighbor continued to murder neighbors after the war ended because they wanted to punish those who chose to fight along side the south. Why would I make such a claim, my great great grandfather was one of those murdered on his family farm in Misery while his 12 year old son was standing beside him.

This board is not place for history debate. The topic is SEC expansion. Would Misery be a good addition to the SEC? Maybe! They do have two large TV markets in the state which might be good for the SEC but they still have the same split personality they had 150/160 years ago. Those two large markets would not absolutely ad a proportionate number of viewers to the SEC games.

If you want the debate to be about history, the only history that matters is what kind of luck do they have filling up their stadium every week since they have a 5+ mil TV market to draw from? Or maybe, with such a large population base, how are they not looked at as one of the perennial powers of college football?

If they want to play with the big boys it is time they put some asses in the seats and kick some asses on the field.
