Watching all the ESPN programs today and Cammy Cam seemed to be everyones pick for not only the best QB but of all the rookies. IMO Ryan "high speed chicken feed" Mallet looked way better. Gabbert (sp) and Locker looked pretty good to. McElroy is starting to look a little better.

Guess what I'm saying is it didn't seem like Cam did anything to stand out from the rest.

Edited to add the ginger

Cam still has some majorly flawed mechanics and footwork. He threw off of his back foot 8-9 times.

I have a strange feeling that Newton will get more snaps behind center than Mallett.

Whether you noticed it or not, there probably is a difference between Newton and the next guy. There is a reason that he went #1 overall.

Meh. He was the best college player last year. That doesn't really translate to the NFL QB position. The Panthers didn't have too much choice. They needed a QB and no one would trade them for the first pick because no one wanted to use it for Cam.

May just be my hate for the guy but based solely off of what we saw in games, Mallet looked better. Or at least good enough that it wouldn't be a unanimous thing that all the talking heads singing Cams song

I was very impressed with Mallet actually. I think he'll have a better career and someone might want him bad enough after he shows off some more to snatch him up.

My vote is a little off the radar. Did anyone catch Josh Portis at the end of the Seatlle game?

I realize he's a Division II QB, but the guy appeared to have serious skills. I missed Whitehurst's performance, so I can't compare. But I'd bet that T. Jackson has some serious competition.

By the way, I thought Locker was good, too. I didn't see Cam or Mallet, so I can't give a full comparison.

Portis was one of the guys I had on my UDFA list. He has tons of talent, he just was recruited over with Tebow at UF and got caught cheating at Maryland.

Remember that Cam was going against starters while none of the other guys mentioned besides Gabbert were. Mallet was up against the 2nd and 3rd stringers of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Cam didn't start the game. Clausen did. Cam played with and against 2nd stringers for the most part.

Cam was 8 of 19 and didn't look very good imo. Mallett looked much better in their first game.

Mallett and Locker are definitely the best. I can make that statement after one preseason game.

at everyone thinking Mallet is some star after he went up against 3rd stringers and UDFA's.

The last play of the game last night was pretty terrible!

I think he is going to be REALLY good!

Well duh...Mallett is playing behind the best QB in the game!
