i've picked up the normal old string w/ hook and whatever... Cocomo reeled in a fully rigged fishing pole and reel (7' american rod and shimano caenan) w/ carolina rig still attached.

WInner.

Years ago while freshwater fishing with my grandpa, I hooked and reeled in a full loaded tackle box. Needless to say, everything was rotted out and we threw it away when we got back to the launch.

Mine was like a chip bag or something. I know a kid who reeled in a Loomis/Shimano combo. The reel was shot but the rod was fine. Lucky bastard.

Don't think this can be beat. Maybe if someone reeled in some gold treasure.

Once on a channel to Wax Lake, I hooked an 8 foot 2x4 board.
With the current, the boards wobbled back and forth and pulled downstream. I fought that monster fish for two hours. I asked everyone to hold the rod (marsh rod n reel) and see if they thought it was a fish. Since it kept moving, everyone thought it was some beast of the depths.
So I reeled and reeled.
and reeled.
When a freaking 2x4 came up, I came very close to throwing my rod in the water.
I took pictures with my "trophy" and got drunk as hell.
Been looking for the pics. Will post if I find them.
Haha! I brought that wood!!!!!

My dad and I were pitching texas rigged worms to cypress trees when I caught mine. On the fall the line yanked to the side so naturally I set the hook hard. Then proceeded to tell dear old dad that was the way it was done, this fish was surely bigger than anything he had dreamed of catching. (I was a cockly lil f'er) When I reeled in an army boot that I had managed to cast right down the opening, I had to eat my words. The best I can tell, it was propped up on a root and as the bait fell in the top of the boot it fell of making the line go sideways, and the open boot put up a hell of a fight.
Oh, dead body wins.

My buddy hooked a dead seagull off the bottom surf fishing
Worst I hooked was probably a clay target or something.

Remember a guy that caught a dead body in False River at the public launch in New Roads.
Twice in one day, I was anchored at the rocks at Timberlier Island and pulled my anchor up with another anchor attached. TWICE.

I was fishing with a cork and had a goose swim over the line and get hooked. It took off and tried to fly away. It was way up in the air and taking plenty of line. It looked like I was flying a goose kite. Eventually it broke the line and flew away.

Boat launches are always pretty gross. I avoid swimming anywhere near them.
