Signees: 5

Calvin Godfrey (PF, 6-8, 240) Howard College. 3-star ranked as No.12 JUCO recruit. Former Iowa State player. Teammate and roommate of fellow signee Shavon Coleman. Averaged 13 points, 7 rebounds for Howard. Also considered Wichita State, Houston and Southern Miss.

Malik Morgan (SG, 6-3, 180): New Orleans (John Curtis): 4-star player ranked No. 17 SG & 76 overall. No.2 player in Louisiana. This is a big commitment from both a talent and PR standpoint. Offers from Boston College, Ga. Tech, Missouri, Oklahoma.

Shavon Coleman (SF, 6-6, 195): Thibodaux, La., Howard (TX) Junior College. Was a Rivals 150 player in high school. Ranked as the No. 8 JUCO player in the country by JUCOjunction.com. Recruited by LSU, but had academic issues out of high school and signed with Louisiana-Monroe, but was not eligible and went to highly rated Howard. LSU has watched him ever since. He is averaging about 14 and 7 on a loaded team. Is really just what LSU is missing -- a long, wing scorer. Visited LSU, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oregon State. Had offers from all. Also considered Memphis and Nebraska. Signed with LSU on 4-23-12.

Shane Hammink (SG, 6-6, 190) Canarias Basketball Academy, Spain: One of the top young players in Europe, Hammink is ranked as the No.13 prospect in Europe for the 2012 class. Attends the prestigous CBA, which is the top basketball destination for young Euro stars. Son of former LSU star and first round draft pick Geert Hammink. Born in Baton Rouge in 1994. LSU has offered, along with Florida, Iowa, Miami and Northeastern.

Corban Collins (PG, 6-3, 190) Woodstock, VA, Massanutten Military Academy. 3-star on Rivals in Class of 2013. Has made decision to move up to class of 2012. Committed to LSU over offers from Cincinnati, Central Florida and Virginia Tech. Rutgers, Virginia and Pittsburgh also recruited.

This is LSU's recruiting list at this point, to the best of my knowledge:

John Odoh (C, 6-11, 240) Hill Junior College, Hill, TX/Nigeria. Ranked as the No. 103 overall junior college prospect by JUCOjunction.com. Has been released from his letter of intent to North Texas. Currently attending summer school at Hill JC to graduate and become eligible. Considered by many to be a lock for LSU upon gaining eligibility.

Of the bigger names only ones I really see LSU having a shot at(that I know of) is Morgan and Milburn.

Pollard - Miss St
Howard - Georgetown, Maryland, Arkansas
Cleare - Maryland

I could add Bail to that too, but the last update I seen he didn't name LSU as one the schools that is recruiting him hard.

Darryl Milburn (SG, 6-2, 200) Baton Rouge (McKinley): 4-star, No. 19 SG and 98 overall. Third-ranked player in Louisiana. LSU has not offered, likely awaiting Morgan’s decision. It is doubtful LSU would sign both. Has offer from Oklahoma State.

I can't believe this. If he is a 4 Star Prospect, from 1 mile off of campus, you take him. Even if we get another other SG. SG and SF is pretty much interchangeable in college basketball, and we don't really have much depth at either. I don't think our program is in the position to wait to offer solid recruits.

Wow. This is upsetting.

I have seen the Qualls kid play several times. He can jump out of the gym and is a quick leaper, but needs to work on his range and ballhandling due to his size.

I could see a class of Morgan, Bail, Jones and maybe Milburn or Manning.

Jerome Hairston commits to Towson. Big surprise for a Rivals 150 player most thought would go high major.

I am beginning to be of the opinion that Trent Johnson is getting some flack on the recruiting trail based on his job security and lack of success. I predict he will wait until the spring to sign anyone besides Morgan. By that time, LSU will have had a good season and his future will be secure. He can then pick up some good spring signees, which there are always some good ones. Or he will have had a bad season and be fired.

Either way, the future of Trent Johnson will be decided by spring (actually, probably February as we will know how the season is going by that time).

His third option would be to sign some players early that are below the quality level that he needs.

Dabney to sign with Tulane tomorrow

Guess Tulane's big win against Nicholls St. enabled Dabney to make his decision to sign with the Green Wave...

Dirty Sanchez

According to 247sports, which I don't fully trust, LSU has now offered Monroe College (New York) PF Orlando Sanchez.

Why don't I trust them? First of all they are new. Secondly, they list him as being from Monroe, LA, and going to Neville High school. He's actually from the Dominican Republic and assuredly has never heard of Monroe, LA, or Neville.

He is a preseason JUCO all-american candidate and considering that Malcolm White is a senior, and Hamilton will be a senior next season, getting some upper-classman depth on the inside would be good.

Rivals just uploaded a profile of Shane Hammink. Still no stories or coverage of his recruitment in any LSU related media.

It has now been a week since his name surfaced.

Hammink

Note: Rivals shows him with offers from LSU, Iowa and Florida, along with interest from Miami. Other reports had shown an offer from Miami.

Looks like he won't qualify and will be headed to JUCO or Prep School.

Totally impressed by the concept of CBA!

This past Easter weekend I enjoyed watching talented boys who practice 2 or 3 times a day with an enthusiastic and completely devoted coach Rob Orellana at the international tournament in Tourcoing (France). This coach has a vision based on insight, discipline and tactics, but ...first and foremost he stays true to his main goal: to bring his players to the best college or right professional team by developing them his way.
The first game of CBA in France they faced an elite formation from the USA. This team consists of: Savon Goodman (recruited by Villanova), Aron Harisson (Kentucky), Andrew Harisson (Kentucky, Baylor), Robert Upshaw (Louisville, Georgetown), Drew Davis (South Florida). These player are top players from high schools in the US.
CBA wins this first game by 5 points! This is an extraordinary result! CBA defeats the Americans by playing a mix of a European and American style. Controlled, fundamentally sound, and intelligent basketball. The following games against, Euro-Metropole, Canada and the national team of Poland are also won by CBA. During all these games all the players of CBA got minutes and showed their talents. I don’t want to say anything about the developments during the tournament, my thoughts regarding that matter consists of assumptions and emotions and it is surely irrelevant sharing these. The final was against the American team they had beaten before. After an awesome first half CBA was up by 7 when the Americans changed tactics. All aspects that make basketball a great sport are shown. The American team is the better team the second half and won the game and tournament. Their players were treated like pop stars by the crowd. Hundreds of young French kids (mostly girls) wanted to have their pictures taken with the players.
In conclusion and my opinion:
Dutch CBA player Shane Hammink: MVP of the tournament! Mind this, the age limit of this tournament is 23. Shane is 17!
Jito Kok: Great performances the first 4 games, unlucky in the finals.
Boris Bojanovsky: Showed his potential in the finals! Great future!
Simon Krajkovic: Amazing! I had seen him previously in Kaunas, one of the best guards I have ever seen, possesses a great basketball mentality.
Oskar Reinfeld: Also showed flashes of brilliance... who is gonna stop him in a couple of years?
I am not forgetting the other players, CBA acted and played as a TEAM. Surely there are many people in the Dutch basketball world (and definitely in the world basketball scene) with more extensive knowledge of the game. The above is what I saw. Thanks CBA for a great tournament and keep up the great work. Thanks to the organizers of the Tourcoing event for a very good organised tournament.
