Anyone know who's likely to return kicks for us? I heard on radio one of the young WR (he doesn't use gloves but has great hands) might get a shot.

at SEC media day, Les said TM7 will get a look at punt returns. I also think RR will be back there also. As for kick offs, i would think brooks will still be back there but would like to see some of the young guys get a shot.

This is straight from miles.

Why do you want young guys to get a shot? Why not just use ur proven sr and jr? All ittakes isa muffed kickoff to lose a game.

@Sheadixon: Miles said he likes Tyrann Mathieu as the punt returner. Looks like the kick returners will be Mo Claiborne and Ron Brooks. #LSU

Yeah no shite. Miles already stated mo is faster than peterson. I dont think we miss a beat on special teams this year. Brooks has ability to take em to the house too.

I thought I read a year ago one of our corners was as faster or was going to be faster than Peterson. I guess it might have been Claiborne. I know it wasn't TM7 "even though everyone has said he is very shifty and quick". Also at the beginning of last year there was workout reports of 40 times and shuttle etc. and I think Brooks was at the top!? I've posted the numbers before and will look back to see if I can find it.

I'd say MC has the job right now.

I love the idea of Tyrann getting a shot at PR, but is he really that shifty? Anyone from his HS days want to inform me how good he is with returns.

Watch any drills that are footwork dominant. He is incredibly impressive.

I've never been a big fan of defensive backs returning kicks (with Peterson being an exception cause he was a freak), simply due to the fact they dont get nearly as much time with the ball in their hand as an offensive player would, but thats just my opinion

I found the spring drills result from 2010 with 40 times and etc. LINK

Vertical Jump
Michael Ford (RB) 42"
Russell Shepard (WR) 41.5"
Patrick Peterson (CB) 39"
Jordan Jefferson (QB) 38"
Ron Brooks (CB) 36.5"

40-Yard Dash (hand timed)
Patrick Peterson (CB) 4.20
Ron Brooks (CB) 4.23
Drayton Calhoun (DB) 4.24
Morris Claiborne (CB) 4.25
Chris Tolliver (WR) 4.33
Russell Shepard (WR) 4.36

Cornerback Patrick Peterson was hand-timed at 4.2 in the 40-yard dash, while fellow cornerbacks Ron Brooks (4.23), Drayton Calhoun (4.24) and Morris Claiborne (4.25) all went sub-4.3 in the hand-timed 40. Peterson also went 535 pounds in the squat, ranking second on the team along with Nevis. Freshman linebacker Kevin Minter led all Tigers in the squat at 545 pounds. Freshman Michael Ford produced some impressive numbers, including a team-best 42 inches in the vertical jump and 352 pounds, which ranked second on the squad, in the clean. Ford also benched 425 pounds and squatted 510 pounds, both ranking among the top five on the team.

Yeah well I believe LM when he says MC is faster. He's had another year to shave off a few tenths.

Primetime and Rod Woodson were pretty decent also, but I get what you're saying.

the vertical is a good indication of explosiveness.
