This was his coming out party, in my opinion. The guy was so great in this film. How an Oscar nomination slipped through his fingers here I do not know.

I guess a film called "American Psycho" was too slasherish for the Academy. For those who have never seen the movie, I present to you probably the most famous scene from that film:

If you're playing a character in which you commit violence against women -- you're guaranteed to not be nominated for shite, a la Dennis Hopper for Blue Velvet.

Bale is fantastic, but the Oscars simply don't recognize low-budget or films like this.

He nailed the role. I love the book, and I thought he was perfect in the movie. I was not a fan of the movie overall though (side effect of having read the book unfortunately)

i liked this movie a lot.

i was born in 1985 so i don't know much about the 80s. i skimmed the book which was very detailed about 80s culture. this movie is no exception to that same detail. this movie looked more like the 80s than movies filmed in the 80s.

bale is great in this as well. on par with his role in the fighter.

i'll probably watch it again very soon.

Can't watch the scene, but if it is the scene where he is describing the music to the hookers, that is my favorite scene. Great movie.

This movie is in my top 10 as a result of watching the movie before reading the book.

The subtle scenes are what really add to the dark bland of humor. I love the 2nd club scene when "Pump up the Volume" is playing followed by "I Wanna Know What You're Thinking" -- that racked those yuppie and raver mixed dance clubs up in NYC like Tunnel, e.g. Then, they're in the bathroom doing coke and then they basically go sit around high as kites and letting models stroke their ego. Brilliant stuff.

The reservations at Dorzia and all of the materialistic goofs were just nailed perfectly. Yes, this movie locks up the 80's better than it could had it been made in 1989 or so.

Look at that subtle off-weight coloring, the tasteful thickness of it. Oh, my God! It even has a watermark.

The business card scene is my favorite. You know he just wanted to murder everyone in the room because he didn't have the best card. Heck, he didn't even have the second best card.
