No, it was saying that Blind River Bar was gonna give a couple grand to whoever caught the biggest gar in the gar fish rodeo. Really more of an FYI than anything.

If you cut all the red blood lines out the meat it can be pretty damn good. My grandmother used to make gar balls and those were delicious

Cook a gar immediately after cleaning it and there's nothing better......more proof that any fresh fish is good no matter what kind .....try grilling some fresh Bonita and same thing.........but let those things sit for an hour and you might as well throw them out IMHO
