Jamie Howard Appreciation

Spoke with Jamie this week at a function and I always thought his deciding to return for his Sr. year in 1995 instead of pitching for the Braves was the most important move in the revival of LSU football- even bigger than K. Faulk's signing. we had nothing behind him.He is a successsful business man in Lafayette with Tommy Hodson and a class act. BTW- his season ending shoulder injury vs Fla. crushed his baseball career.

You thought wrong. And I liked Jamie.

Jamie was/is the man. Full appreciation to him

I always liked the guy and felt terrible for him that he was put in the position he was by our coaches. But to say he had a bigger impact on the revival of LSU than Faulk is just crazy.
ETA: If Jamie was our QB over last 3 years I think we would have another title.

This has to be satire. There is no possible way someone could have such a distorted view of history. If you are this fond of Jamie Howard you must think JJ is the second coming of Dan Marino.

jamie howard is the second worst choke artist of a qb we have had in recent history. second only to jarrett lee.

You say that based on the Auburn game right? No caoching staff should have been throwing it after the 2nd int. Our team sucked as well as our coaching staff. Howard actually had talent and with good coaching and talent would have made a great QB.

He is a great guy. He had no reason to return to LSU in 1995 but he did and had a nice year until he got hurt. I respect him as much as any LSU football player for the way he handled himself when he should have left for the way he was treated. LSU fans ought to be ashamed of themselves for the things that were (and still are) said about him. Unfortunately, arrogance and classlessness are virtuous to many LSU fans on this board.

Faulk signing was huge mate.

Proves my point about you and our football knowledge.
LSU had a horrible supporting cast and still won some games because of QB play not inspite of it like we have the last 3 years.

I'd take JJ and Jarret Lee over Jamie Howard any day.
Lest we forget

Surely you jest

Curley Hallman was the coach. He was terrible. I remember he was quoted as saying " that has been our achilles tendon all year"
Our losing teams of the 90's were not Howards fault IMO.

yeah, Curly was bad but Curly didnt make Jamie throw all those interceptions and its not like we didnt have any weapons on offense.

We should all respect the efforts of LSU players who handle themselves with class while risking injury to help LSU to the best of their ability.
The eating of our own is a shameful act of poor sportsmanship. imo
After having said that, LSU fans on the whole are some of the best/passionate/supportive fans you will find. We aren't one of two fully independent from state aid schools in all of college football cause we have "bad" fans. imo

Some of you guys suck, plain and simple. (bad reply choice, sorry Topwater-- not you
)
Howard played for some really bad teams. Montana wouldn't have won too many more in '92-'94 than Howard did.
Yes, Howard made some horrible passes in that 1994 Auburn game. No way around it. But the last interception return , as bad as that pass was, is on Amadee and Hallman. Auburn was out of timeouts and they would have had less than a minute to try to score from inside their 40, barring something happening on the punt. For Amadee to call that play and Hallman okay it was just stupid.
I was glad he had a good game vs Auburn the next year.
