WOOT! I have already put out a warning to all of my friends that have any interest in soccer to avoid all contact with me today. I don't want any hint of what happens until I can watch the game on my DVR tonight.

Same here. I won't get to start watching until about 3:30, so I've got to avoid the internet for about 2 hours.

I wish the team had shown as much fight as the fans.

I've pointed out my theory to many people in the last 2 or 3 years, but literally, the arsenal destruction of Milan in 2008 changed them. The announcers kindly said arsenal had a huge pace advantage on FSC2GO but that really isn't the truth. Milan has been slowly buying young pacey players ever since that match, where they were destroyed. The scoreline wasn't close to accurate.

The pitch was absolutely ravaged tonight, it's been covered in snow for about 2 weeks strait and it showed. Need some dome's with LED grow lights in europe.

No, sorry, this IS Wenger's fault. This is his team, his tactics, his philosophy, his failure for 6, nearly 7 years. #Arsenal

He isn't the most objective Arsenal fan, although I agree with him (I think) about Wenger's tactics. Wenger is notoriously stubborn when it comes to formations, though he wasn't always this way. At the same time, since we've last one a trophy, we've made a semi-final of a cup 4 times, we've been runners-up 3 times, and we've been in the quarterfinals 6 times. I'd argue that it was his attacking philosophy and belief in young players that got us there in the first place.

I'm not sure what people were expecting. This is the weakest Arsenal team since 2006, and we haven't changed the way we've played at all like we did during our CL run.

We're obviously in rebuilding, punching above our weight in Europe. We have 7 new first team players, having lost 2 good players (Clichy and Nasri), one decent squad player (Eboue, who for his antics was entertaining as all hell), and 1 superstar (Fabregas). We bought no one who was capable of immediately filling any of those players shoes. We bought for the future.

Despite this, that game today was embarrassing. It was like they had never strung passes together before.

In truth, the one thing people seem right about Wenger's teams is the mental fragility, as if our confidence is destroyed, it takes us at least a year to recover. Last season was analogous to the 2007-2008 season where we were awesome until Eduardo's injury, then we imploded. Last year we were pretty good until the CC Final, after which we completely imploded. My hope is that this year is like 2008-09, a year we can get to fourth and prepare for a title run with a key signing or two. Wenger has to buy another striker, because no way is Van Persie staying. Walcott might be off too, but his technical gains are offset by his complete inability to get past any half-competent full-back. We'll see what happens though, but as it seems like every summer we have to buy someone, and it looks like we will have to buy this summer as well.

52 of the 82 current Football League clubs have won a trophy since we have (per some guy ZM RT'd).

I think this is primarily on Wenger due to his terrible summer. Though Arteta and Mertesacker have been very solid signings, the rest were highly questionable and not calculated to make us better than we were last year, but rather keep us afloat. I could handle it being a rebuilding year if we had replaced our studs with young talent, but AOC is the only truly rebuilding piece we bought and he was bought pre-Cesc/Nasri/Clichy sales. We reinvested none of that money in young talent, which is readily available. In this time of economic turmoil, our incredible monetary situation could have given us this opportunity. Instead, we'll end up doing it this summer, which means you might as well mark out next year as a rebuilding year too.

I hope Wenger wises up and get rid of a bunch of players who he's believed in too long, but are clearly not going to come through for us. Gibbs, Diaby, Rosicky, Walcott, Squillaci, Bendtner, Almunia, Arshavin, Denilson, and Chamakh should all go. Walcott could be a decent super sub for us, but he won't be satisfied in that role so we might as well cash in on him. The others have been too undependable to continue to rely on. Gibbs and Diaby have talent, but we can't afford to keep stunting ourselves because they might get healthy/put it together. Actually, out of all those I listed, Arshavin might be the one I wouldn't mind hanging onto for another year, though I would imagine Wenger will continue to play him out of position.

Every year for the past few years it's been "we're so close." Well, this year it isn't close. Wenger has a lot of work to do in the offseason.

There is one thing that y'all can take from the Arsenal flameout: you won't have to play Cesc this year.

Yeah, I was pretty surprised at the reaction from generally rational bloggers on Twitter. Sure, 4-0 is a little surprising, but we are struggling like hell to even stay in the top 4 this year. This is a total rebuild year, the thought of doing anything much in the CL is a pipe dream. I can totally see the frustration with the performance today though which was pretty subpar even for Arsenal this year.

We should be focused on getting 4th and maybe getting the FA cup if we're lucky.

5-3.

Er...wait. That probably means nothing to you since you just arbitrarily draw club names out of a hat to support. No wonder you're a catholic, what with the polytheism of saints and all, you're practically conditioned to subscribe to multiple myths of allegiance.

Whoah TN Bhoy is a direct descendent of the Khan of Bukhara. How dare you question his national team allegiance to the Uzbek national team.

The match yesterday was very strange. The condition of the pitch got to Arsenal before the match had started. Boateng( )and Ibra gave us fits. Four shots on target foe ACM=four goals. Abbiati with to great saves. Second half was much better.

Hendo, you got my vote for The Ali.

Mertesacker's fricked. He's vaguely described as being out "long term" which probably means we won't see him till the very end of the season or next pre-season.

Thanks a lot, February melt down

frick you, Stadium of Light pitch. And San Siro (even though Kos is only out a week). Hopefully TV5 remembers how to play CB tomorrow.

Interesting stat from Opta - Walcott has assisted more RvP goals (13) than Bergkamp assisted Henry goals (11). Somehow that stat still doesn't make me a Walcott fan.
