Would you trade Landon Collins for Quay Evans?

I'd have to say yes. No disrespect to LC, he's an incredibly talented athlete. But if we want that "next level" defense, then Freak needs help. I know LC could do some damage back there, but it seems Reid, Vinson, Gibson, or another highly rated safety could get it done (don't know who plays FS or SS, sorry). Dont know if the DT situation is as set Think about how loaded we are at DE, secondary, LB- now w/ sick recruits. Weakest link is DT. Think bout Quay & Freak as a DT duo. This discussion is just for fun, can't wait to see LC roaming the secondary in TS! (wouldn't that be cool if u could trade players/recruits)?

F'ing Hell NO!

You can't teach the athleticism that Collins will bring.

LSU can develop DT's from the existing pool of talent.

As a Ole Miss fan I can be honest and tell you Evans isn't going to LSU,it's a MSU and Bama battle.

No, not even close.

Lose our states top prospect, and it would be to a rival in our own conference.

Hell no.

I guess Egg worded it better, an elite SS for an elite DT?

We lose a lot more losing Collins because of the circumstances.

Shut up noob.

Bama isnt recruiting him anymore, and hes not looking at Bama anymore.

Its State and everyone else till the season starts and he takes some officials

And BTW, no I would not trade LC for Quay. But I probably would consider it for Eddie Goldman. Having Freak and Eddie side by side with the guys we have now minus LC would be DEADLY. I dont wanna just settle for Nick James

Not no but hell no. DT is a much harder position to evaluate talent at than S. Much higher bust %. Not to mention he isn't a LA kid in our backyard...

Neither position is a huge need at this point, so I'm going with the local guy who has off the chart numbers. His athleticism alone will likely make him a good college player, minimum.

Not that simple. There are other variables in play than position. One, Collins is a better safety than Evans is a DT. Also, can't lose the guy who is far and away the best in the state who lives 20 minutes from campus. Plus even if Collins busts, he is still probably a special teams demon; if Evans busts (which is much more likely anyway), he is no more than just a huge drain at the training table...

Post less. Our D-line is incredibly strong while we could use some help out with safety depth. After Loston and Eric Reid next year Collins would easily be the next best safety in 12. Meanwhile we will still have Josh Downs, Ego Ferguson, Mickey Johnson and Michael Brockers. To say you would trade LC who is obviously a special talent for Quay Evans, who frankly looks highly overrated IMO, is beyond dumb.

Collins could probably play every position in our secondary, in a pinch. He could also play at linebacker, RB, and special teams.

Quay= DT or he could go the Davenport route.

Collins would be the safer and probably more valuable guy.

We cannot lose our state's #1 talent.
