Some of your hyped but disappointing movies of the last 10-15 years?

I have a beef from '98 - '04. That was my peak time with watching movies as a college student and someone who was always at the theater with dates, by myself, or at home using the incredible invention of the dvd.
1998 - Godzilla (the soundtrack, the reviews coming out 6 months before...huge letdown and ferris Bueller should have never been involved. This was sort of the beginning for the remake of everything, even though it was already a remake.)
1999 - Star Wars Ep I (Jar Jar Binks is the most powerful entity in the world. he almost single-handedly ruined what was supposed to be a Godly-like movie. I guess even wiythout him, it fell flat. Too kiddy...not enough of the original Darth)
2000 - Traffic (Not a bad movie, but also one that could have taken off into so much but ended up being an action movie tied in with an ABC Afterschool Special)
2001 - Hannibal (If Jodie Foster says no, then do not make the movie. This isn't Major League where Omar Epps can fill in for IRS Snipes and everything be sort of ok. Julianne Moore tried, but failed).
2002 - Reign of Fire (The directors should have talked to the makers of DragonSlayer from 20 years earlier. This could have been one of the greatest dark fantasies of all time...ended up being very decent dragon movie with poor acting)
2003 - The Ring (had some scary moments, but after all I was hearing -- as it was one of those I went to see based on others' sayings -- I was expecting it to be a one of a kind. The Japansese version is sooo much better. Take out the tv/well scene and it was freaky but hardly one of a kind.)
2004a - Ocean's 12 (I knew going in that it was a sequel and the Euro-setting aspect intrigued me. Still, I do not get where this movie wanted to go and it was far behind the first and its follow-up was much better)
2004b - The Village (I haven't seen this since its opening weekend, but I remember walking out and being very pissed. A movie that I thought was going to end up in territory of Close Encounters meets Predator and it was simply confusion meets more confusion)
Feel free to take shots and UCLA-film school me. I just won't change my opinions of how hopeful I was on all of those and how each let me down.

Godzilla was quite bad.
Star War Episode 1 - never had a chance in hell of meeting expectations. ti could have been Empire Strikes Back X 2 and it still would have disappointed. Then again, people should have known there would be an annoying creature since the previous film had the ewoks.
Reign of Fire - the dragons weren't the problem. It was the people. character development was shotty at best and the plot didn't flow like you'd have liked.

Watch all the HPs in sequence and tell me if they don't meet the hype.

My time is too valuable. I've already wasted five hours on two really poorly made films. Why would I waste more time?

For you to be such a movie buff why is it so hard for you to understand that you have to watch the entire series.

What's the saying? Obvious troll is obvious. Appropriate in this thread.
Posting on TD is how you spend your valuable time?

The Fountain.
This trailer got me so pumped..
Excellence
I like it more every time I watch it, but I was let down in the first viewing.
Good thread by the way.

That's such an abasing accusation. I don't merely post. I bring class, education, and morality to the TD.
