I went to the strip mall earlier to go to Tattle Tales and I saw that they were building this new restaurant.
They have a facebook page and it looks promising
. Freshly made bar food/burgers and it looks a lot better than Buffalo Wild Wings and Walk On's.

foodwise? Such a daunting task!

Should be interesting either way.

A girl wrote on the FB page when they were opening about a week ago and they said July 24th is what's they're hoping. They have a picture of the fresh-cut French Fries and another picture of a Burger with Arugula, Goat Cheese, Pear, and Red Onion Marmalade.
I would post the Facebook page directly but I don't want any posters finding me on Facebook if there's any loopholes into directly linking Facebook pages

Sounds great. Is that where the old calendars was? I think it was deanos ? There was a liquor license issue for that location in the past I believe.

It's by LSU's campus. It's in a strip mall off Highland right outside campus towards the Agriculture part of campus. It's in the same strip mall as Planet Beach, Drunken Fish, Tattle Tales, and Balfour House.

Good location, hope it sticks

I hope it does too. Finally a good, creative casual burger/hang out place near campus that won't skimp on taste or ingredient quality. They're going to have a liquor license too so they'll do fairly well.

Fat Cow Burgers & Salads
quote:
Construction has started on Fat Cow Burgers and Salads, a new restaurant set to open just outside the South Gates of LSU later this spring. Doug Hosford, the chef and one of the owners of Fat Cow, says the restaurant will feature freshly ground hamburgers, hand-cut fries, and salads topped with everything from grilled salmon to spiced pecans. Hosford, who lives in Natchez, Miss., says he spent 18 months developing the best possible burger for Fat Cow. "We went through 300 different recipes," says Hosford, who sampled burgers at restaurants from San Diego to Virginia in the name of research. High-quality hamburger restaurants have come back in vogue, thanks to chains such as Five Guys Burgers and Fries and In-N-Out Burger. Burgersmith, a Lafayette-based chain, is set to open in the Acadian-Perkins Plaza this spring. Hosford, who worked as a chef across the South, says this shows the enduring popularity of hamburgers. "Hamburgers don't go out of style," he says. "And people are putting much more emphasis on food." Fat Cow will take up 2,590 square feet in the Highland Village Shopping Center, in a space that had been occupied by Dean-O's and Calendar's Restaurant. Colin Smith, an agent with Kurz & Hebert Commercial Real Estate, brokered the deal.

will be interesting to see if its lasts, that location is where restaurants go to die

Agree- hope it lasts though.

I hope it survives too. You would think that being close to campus that it would do well. I think the menu and the wine & beer bar idea will have a lot of students going there.

parking is always the issue at that location

Fond memories of drinking Touchdowns at Calendar's back in the day.

It's a great location, but parking is so bad. It literally doesn't have the parking to sustain a busy restaurant. It stays packed now with nothing occupying that spot.

Parking has been an issue there ever since that strip mall opened, the place in its entirety used to be Mike Andersons restaurant and parking lot, and even then it was a bitch to park.
