The batman voice is a bit much but he gets into his roles like no other.

Just now finishing the fighter.

Hmmmm... Who might rank above him...

Daniel Day Lewis ?
Tom Hanks ?
Ralph Fiennes ?
Sean Penn ?
Liam Neeson ?
Gary Oldman ?
Depp ?

My favorites are the one who can really become the character they are playing.

Guys like Hanks, Neeson, and Clooney are great actors, but they are still Hanks, Neeson, and Clooney.

Bale, Depp, Penn, Lewis, Oldman, etc... really turn in to the character they are playing.

I agree that Bale is a good actor but he has really bad anger management issues:

"Oh gooooood for youuuuuu...McGee, you got somethin to say to this prick?"

We aren't talking about what their personal lives are like. Just acting skills

For the record I abhor Penn so much that I can't even objectively look at his work and like it. He's a twat.

Absolutely no doubt. The fighter was a historic performance IMO.

I would add Edward Norton to that list as well as Leo Di Caprio.

Dude can act though.

Bale, Pitt, DDL, Oldman, PS Hoffman, Depp, Cheadle, Nicholson, DiCaprio, Carey, Rockwell, and the guy who played the lead actor in Highlander which won the award for greatest movie ever made. All great actors. All great men. All loved.

He takes way too much heat for the Batman voice. He's a great actor. His Oscar for The Fighter was completely deserved.

I agree, it actually sounds like someone trying to mask his voice. Makes it more real to me.

I think Bale is way up there currently as far as actors go.

He also hasn't been in any great movies outside of Schindler's List. I always looked at Neeson as the Robert Duvall of his generation. I've never Neeson give a bad performance. Not once. He was one of the few actors who gave a respectable performance in Phantom Menace which was a complete pile of shite. He completely elevated Taken which would have been an average, cookie-cutter thriller without Neeson's performance. The man's a masterful actor.

It was a lose lose situation for them. People used to scream "omg they can't tell that's Bruce Wayne??" Now it's "omfg he sounds like he's choking on a chicken bone." Doesnt take away from the movie at all for me and that gripe gets old.

There are ways to disguise your voice without sounding like you've given one too many blowjobs. The voice was distracting and absolutely terrible.
