what's the best way to learn financial statement analysis on your own?

i'm looking to learn about how to read a corp's financial filings and figure out how to guess stock prices, and wondering where the best place to start would be.

Pick a school, find their accounting and finance cirriculums, buy all of the books, read them and actually put effort in to learn it by doing problems and stuff, then learn to start synthesizing. You could also probably find used/old CFA books on ebay for dirt cheap, which will get you most of the way there.

To be honest, I'd recommend taking a class. You don't have to enroll full time or take anything else, but the shite is complicated, and the best way to learn is from someone who makes a living teaching it.....

You could attend one of my financial statement analysis classes.
Of course that would mean you'd have to travel to Africa, Asia or Eastern Europe to attend it, but I'm sure you'd learn a lot.
