With less than 12 hours to go until the release , I thought everyone might want to weigh in with the POV they are anticipating the most.

It's very difficult to choose, but I think I have to go with Bran. We've had absolutely no information on him since A Storm of Swords and I have no idea where Martin is heading with him, Meera, Jojen, Cold Hands, or the three eyed crow.

I'm looking forward to Bran's stuff but I guess I'd have to say Tyrion.

Really all of them, but Jon the most. I want to know what's happening on the wall! It's been six years and now there's only one day left

11 years since an actual report from The Wall if you don't count Samwell's recollections in AFFC.

Tyrion no doubt. I'm reading all the chapter summaries of the previous books today to get caught up and read theories i missed out on.

Damn you're right it really has been 11 years. When I started this series back in 97 I never thought I'd be waiting on book five 14 years later

I may have to start reading chapter summaries too. I started my first re-read way too late and am only halfway through A Clash of Kings. The thought of trudging through A Feast for Crows (which I liked fwiw) while the new book just sits there isn't exactly appealing.

Nobody thought they would be. Found this little tidbit on wikipedia. I'm not liking any Robert Jordan references in regards to this series.

quote:

Allusions and references to other works:
A character named Trebor Jordayne of the Tor is mentioned in A Storm of Swords; Tor Books is the best-known publisher of fantasy author Robert Jordan, and "Trebor" is "Robert" backwards.

My biggest worry about the series right there. He's not as unhealthy as Jordan was, but GRRM won't be in any health magazines anytime soon.

I've got less than 100 pgs left on my re-read of AFFC, so the timing worked out pretty well

looking forward to all of them, but esp Bran, Arya, Jon, Tyrion, and one of the new first time POV's

Dany, but I'm still on the second book.

I look forward to seeing her take back Westeros. I hate the Baratheons, and stupid me learned of the Red wedding, so my boy Robb.... well poor Starks.

I don't know where Bran is going, but since he is people are looking forward to him, I'm guessing he is the King of the North now, or just finally does something besides dream and be carried around by Hodor.

Meera, Jojen,

I really need to stop reading anything to do with these books. I figured these two would be prominent when they started talking about seeing the future and all.

I added (Spoilers) to my thread title. I assumed anyone looking forward to A Dance with Dragons had read the first four books.

I can't believe I just stared reading these books about a week ago. I'm almost done with book 2 after going on a marathon reading session, so it'll be a little more than 12 hours before I pickup aDwD. But through the first two books the POV's I find the most consistently interesting are Jon and Tyrion.

Question when Lysa admits to killing John Arynn and says this was Petyrs idea as was the letter to Catelyn, is this taken as truth or is their any doubt since she was raging mad?

Probably a good move, though I almost didn't come into this thread cause I thought it might contain spoilers for ADWD.

Yeah I wonder how we will discuss ADWD...Me and GCT are starting to read it tonight, it'd be hard to make a thread about it to discuss it while everyone is at different parts

I personally will be avoiding all threads potentially related to ADWD until I have finished the book.

I ordered through Amazon and they just shipped it today, with delivery likely on the 14th

Different sites go about it different ways. Just spoilers for chapters 1-10, then 1-25, etc.

We can't do that here.

Just post a thread when you're done: ADWD COMPLETE BOOK SPOILERS THREAD. For the first few pages put any spoilers below a spoiler tag. When everyone is done by, say, the weekend, people will catch up in the thread. IMO.

Since I have so much free time, I might actually try to blog my reading of it.
