I want to get a hotel rewards CC and the Hilton and Marriott offer the most properties and have the best rewards. Which would you go with?

i've been going with Hilton lately but it's a toss up. I like hilton for embassy suites.
ETA: Free made to order eggs in the morning. can't beat that when traveling.

You going to travel a lot? (Also, define a lot) How much do you usually spend on hotel rooms (in other words, do you have a budget?) Also, will you be traveling to smaller towns or to larger cities?
I have a Hilton card and am in Hilton properties a LOT. I also stay in Marriotts depending on the cities I visit. Both have good rewards, especially once you get higher in their rewards rankings (it's pretty awesome to be a Hilton Diamond).
I don't think there's going to be a huge difference between the benefits of being a Hilton credit card holder as opposed to a Marriott credit card holder. Just depends on which chain you'll be staying in most frequently.

They are basically the same it is more about which properties you like to frequent more. For me that is Hilton.

I was in the same boat as you are in now a year ago. Asked the same question.
I chose Hilton. I travel weekly and am often gone 2 to 3 nights a week. However, I also stay at Marriott branded hotels as well. It really just depends on where I am at.
Ex. In Tyler, Hilton has a horrible selection of hotels. Marriott, OTOH, has a brand new Courtyard Marriott that is rather nice. And surprisingly, Staybridge Suites is very nice as well and new.
If you know where you will be traveling to frequently, look up the different hotels for reviews as that may have an impact on your decision. As someone mentioned earlier, it's hard to beat a very good breakfast at Embassy Suites.

Just strictly from a points standpoint, it takes less nights with Marriott to get a free night than with Hilton. There is a chart I've seen somewhere and it takes as few as 10 nights with Marriott, can't remember the number for Hilton.

If you really want an in depth answer to this question you need to post on flyertalk.
