Review of Rock N Sake in NOLA tonight...

Summation for those that don't want to read the whole post: f this place.
We went there for my gf's bday. I made a reservation for a large group 3 days ago. Get there tonight, and we have 10 of our party when we get there. The hostess tells me they can seat us when our entire party is there. Our group was 20, so I understood not sitting only half the party, it is business after all. 4 more of our group show, and I ask if we can be seated so we can start ordering drinks and apps. The hostess says the manager does not allow that, so I ask to speak with him. At this point I was still calm.
The manager comes up and immediately acts like a-hole, which of course angers me. I ask why we can't be seated when more than half the party is here (my mom who has had 2 back surgeries was with us). We go back and forth for a bit, and he was incredibly rude from the get go.
When I made the reservation, I had to provide a credit card in case only half showed up. The manager still was going to charge me $50, to which I politely told him he can f himself. We decided to take our business elsewhere, and I canceled my card so he couldn't charge me.
Apparently some people don't realize they work in the service industry.
Gordon Biersch took our business with no issues and no reservations. I guess they wanted the $1000+ more.
Edited years later for awful spelling

didnt really have to do this. if he charges you, just dispute it with your credit card company.

First of all, CSB
Next, I'm guessing you typed it on your phone because of all the wrong words.
Lastly, sounds shitty, but aren't they usually overrated anyway.

Well the manager had a very high opinion of himself and was a complete a-hole. The place looked crappy for how expensive it was.

That sucks and sorry that happened to you.
I have to ask why you thought it would be a good idea to bring a large group there and your mom? The food is just ok and the place gets loud as hell.

Wonder if it is a floating manager? Was sitting at the sushi bar(BR location) about 3 weeks ago on half priced wine Wednesday and the manager would talk to a few servers behind our backs and would just bash the larger tables in the back. However, our sushi was pretty damn good that night.

He was a shaved head goatee having douche. So if that matches your guy, then yes.
I just don't understand why he would have such an attiude to begin with. We were just trying to spend money sooner. His loss.

Dont remember if he had a goatee but he was a built up guy with a bald head

You must have never been there before. Trying to get a party of 20 there on a Friday night was your first mistake.

He successfully got the reservation. They just refused to honor it.

I hope Ms. Lnchbox still had a good birthday despite the crappy service/treatment. Tell her I say hi.

I just can't take the name of the restaurant seriously to consider eating there.

That's all so odd considering how great the one in BR accommodated my party of 22 just a few weeks ago. They said they usually want 80% of the party there to seat us, but they ended up letting us sit when only 2 of us were there.
Also, I NEVER had to give any credit card info. WTF was that for? Weird.

Meh, it's not the kind of place you'd want to take seriously IMO. They are known for blaring loud popular music, a lot of which is rap. It's very loud and "hip" I guess you could say. I loved my food there, but it's not a place for a quiet date or trip to deeply-rooted asian fare.

LL, which night of the week were you there with the larger party? Sometimes there's a difference if it's a week day or a weekend.

Thanks ladytiger I still did!! Went to a way better restaurant!

No offense but for the prices they charge, they need to act serious. If I wanted cheesey service, I could go to Olive Garden.
I dint care how good the food is, if the manager is an a-hole, they can get their money from someone other than me.

Saturday night. I asked for the entire upstairs, but when not everyone showed up, they let me know they were going to give some of the further away tables to customers and that was totally fine.
But this was BR location.. not NOLA.

Yeah, the name would be pretty cheesy without the music and atmosphere.

They don't give you cheesy service and you're only mad because the location you went to treated you horribly so you're trash talking the food and business model as a whole. I 100% agree it was terrible they did that, but don't go off calling the place cheesy and "looks gross" because .. YOU'RE the one who planned to go there and had you been given good service when you arrived, you likely would have enjoyed it.
I am deff. on your side about the way they acted, but they don't "need to act serious". It's not a place like Waka House. It's a completely different type of business.
