The health of a football team is imo much bigger factor in regards to extra time than any coaching scheme devised over extra week or two of practice.
Execution is key part of football and that falls on players shoulders not coaches.

If this were true, then LSU would not be 16-3 in these games. Health matters, for sure, but the teams they are playing against in openers and bowls (12 games, 11-1 record) would have ample time to be healthy as well. Coaching must be part of the equation.

I didn't say coaching didn't matter, just that a 100% team is a bigger factor that many people don't consider.

Nice breakdown but what are about Oregon's HC? What are his numbers? They might be pretty good too.

A win is a win. Also, those teams you single out are good football teams. It's not like they are home games against Louisiana Monroe.

Agreed. But all the games were close is my point. They all could have gone the other way as well--unlike the way we have dominated in most of the bowl games under Miles. But I think you would also have to agree that Oregon, at least on paper, is the toughest competition LSU will have faced in a season opener under Miles.

Coach Miles does have a good record, against good teams, with extra time to prepare. So, how is Oregan's record? Season openers really don't count. They are normally easy games. Bowl games do count.
Look, I'm a numbers guy too. But, I think that the only thing you're going to get from this, is that two very good teams, with two very good coaches, are going to play.
We have GOT to respect Oregon. It's not really hard at all. They have earned it!
I HOPE we win. I THINK we SHOULD win. But, we won't know for a couple of months.
Have fun until then. After all, this is a message board.

idk they lost to boise twice, lost to auburn, lost to ohio state, beat new mexico and oklahoma state.
Seems like they lose in the bigger ooc games.
Maybe just maybe the pac 10 is soft. This is just the past 3 seasons.

I would even put an asterisk next to this one.

Should add - LSU has only lost 1 game to an non-conference opponent under Les Miles - the 2010 Cap One Bowl versus Penn State.
That game was a fluke (field conditions)

First there are no excuses in football, We let go of a big lead in the Tenn game and in the Penn St game both teams had to play on the same field.
Second, who the hell knows if Kelly will even be at the LSU/Oregon game, if you know what i mean.
