Would you trade success in baseball for success in basketball?

If, going back to 1990, you could switch the results of the LSU baseball team with that of the basketball team, would you do it? If so, these would be the results:

LSU Men's Basketball from 1990-2011:

8 SEC Regular Season championships
8 SEC Tournament Championships
NCAA tournament in 20 out of 22 years
15 Sweet 16 Appearances
12 Elite 8 Appearances
8 Final 4s
6 National Championships

LSU Baseball from 1990-2011:

4 SEC Regular Season Championships
1 SEC Tournament Championship
9 NCAA Tourny Appearances
2 NCAA Super-Regionals
1 CWS Berth
0 National Championships

Would you trade? Would it have been more fun to have had this type of success in the PMAC as opposed to The Box?

Basketball is the higher profile sport, and with these results, LSU would have been more impressive than Duke over the same time period. That being said, I am not sure if I would make the switch.

Winning 6 championships in basketball in a 21 year period is pretty impressive and really hard to do especially in today's game. Would basketball bring even more national attention to LSU, yea it certainly would. However with that said I think I would keep the championships right where they are.

I'd trade a couple of national titles in baseball for basketball. It's not like LSU gets treated by the media or the selection committee as a team that's won 6 titles - so screw it. What difference would it make to have 4 titles in baseball and 2 in basketball?

Yeah, I'd probably make that trade. I love college baseball, but probably because of our success. If we had that success in basketball, along with our last decade in football, we would be considered the top athletic program in the country.

Are YOU kidding?

Duke only has 4 championships over that time.

And I wouldn't trade. I would however split it down the middle 3 for baseball, 3 for basketball

I'd say no because LSU's run in the 90s did a lot for college baseball. But I also like baseball better.

LSU would have 6 NCs compared to Duke's 4. LSU would have 12 Elite 8s to Duke's 9. LSU would have 1 more Sweet 16 appearance...

LSU would definitely be more impressive than Duke with those results.

No. It's now our identity. We're the baseball school. People with no connection to LSU or even college baseball know about our baseball program. It makes us unique.

I know it makes us unique, and I like that arguement. However, Duke basketball makes them unique and we would have a significant edge on them if the tables were turned. We would be a basketball powerhouse.

People who say no because they love college baseball would likely love college basketball if we had that kind of success.

I emphasized the wrong part of the quote, but the "are you kidding" was in reference to you not being sure you would make the switch.

I meant to say the fact that since we'd easily outshine the best bball program of the last 20 years makes, it makes a no brainer.
