I will try to make up for my post from earlier with some 1980’s LSU trivia. Each answer is a different current/former SEC school (for extra credit name the year in the 80’s).

1) After getting out to a 17-0 lead, LSU used defense to hold on and get a big road win against this sec team. Our QB was 20-26.
2) LSU scored on the first play from scrimmage and went on to crush this team on their home turf after just holding on against the same team in Baton Rouge the year before.
3) A fumble on the opening kick-off recovered by a freshman tight end, and a subsequent first play from scrimmage TD had LSU off and running in a route over this SEC rival
4) Many expected a blow out, but LSU managed only 14 points and had to use defense while wearing purple jerseys to beat this stubborn team 14-6.
5) After routing this team in its home stadium in the rain, LSU was 2-0 and was outscoring its opponents 61-9.
6) Hodson to Davis and 3 field goals led the Tigers over this SEC foe in Baton Rouge as two tiger TB’s rushed for over 100 yards.
7) Without Willie Williams fighting for extra yards on a 4th down late in the game, LSU would likely have lost this game and been shut out in the process.
8) It was a tie, but after being down 14-0 this was not a bad result for a new head coach on this SEC team’s home field.
9) Mike Montz put LSU ahead late, but a QB from Valdosta, Georgia brought his team back and LSU was upset on the road.
10) Both teams had losing records, but LSU used a nice game from a senior from Ohio and tough defense to beat this team on the road after falling behind 7-0.

I don't know or have time to look up the answers right now, but that's a great offseason concept.

Thanks for the post.

Answers below, wow, some great answers, and mostly right, although now I am questioning who caught 4th down pass to keep drive alive vs. Auburn in 88, Halliburton or Williams..Anyway see below

1) After getting out to a 17-0 lead, LSU used defense to hold on and get a big road win against this sec team. First time in a long time to beat Bama, Risher had great game, Hilliard a great run and game was not a close as score, 20-10. 1982
2) LSU scored on the first play from scrimmage and went on to crush this team on their home turf after just holding on against the same team in Baton Rouge the year before. I can’t recall who intercepted pass on Vandys first play (Pierson) but we creamed vandy.1985
3) A fumble on the opening kick-off recovered by a freshman tight end, and a subsequent first play from scrimmage TD had LSU off and running in a route over this SEC rival. Mitch Andrew got the fumble and Hilliard and defense beat tar out of UM. -50 yards rushing still an LSU record.1982
4) Many expected a blow out, but LSU managed only 14 points and had to use defense while wearing purple jerseys to beat this stubborn team 14-6. SC was good that year, but Eric Martin made two great grabs and defense held on. 1982
5) After routing this team in its home stadium in the rain, LSU was 2-0 and was outscoring its opponents 61-9. UT started 0-6 and Slip Watkins, Fuller and Alvin Lee lit up UT.1988
6) Hodson to Davis and 3 field goals led the Tigers over this SEC foe in Baton Rouge as two tiger TB’s rushed for over 100 yards. UGA kicker missed a few and Ronnie Lewis made a few, 23-14 over UGA. 1986
7) Without Willie Williams fighting for extra yards on a 4th down late in the game, LSU would likely have lost this game and been shut out in the process. Was it Halliburton or Williams, earthquake game 1988
8) It was a tie, but after being down 14-0 this was not a bad result for a new head coach on this SEC team’s home field. Arnsbarger kept team together and like earlier poster said if only Juan could have made that FG at UF.1984
9) Mike Montz put LSU ahead late, but a QB from Valdosta, Georgia brought his team back and LSU was upset on the road. We all hate John Bond.1982
10) Both teams had losing records, but LSU used a nice game from a senior from Ohio and tough defense to beat this team on the road after falling behind 7-0. Trick question, was at Tulane (former SEC team) and was Stovall’s last game. Eric Ellington from Ohio had his best game in his last game. I think Tulane was on their 5th QB that year and he was the coach’s son?1983
IMO the 82 team was one of our best ever, 11 points from undefeated, Juan missed FG's vs. UT, John Bond, Reggie Reginelly and 1 pt vs Huskers...

In the 1983 Tulane game Wally English was Tulane's first year coach. His son Jon started a few games at the start of the season but along the way was declared ineligible and at least two of their wins, Ole Miss and Florida State (the week after Florida State beat LSU in the season opener for LSU)were forfeited.

Good list. I was at most of those games.

Wow. 9 out of 10! Not bad. (of course I was at LSU from '80 to '84 :)

Re: #7 - It WAS Willie Williams. After he caught the pass and lunged for the first down, the announcer (Mike Patrick) said "Haliburton" by mistake. But then he corrected himself. Patrick's sidekick announcer, talking through the replay, said "Hodson's looking right at him and saying: Willie!, it's to you Willie! and threw it right in his chest."

And I may have graduated in '84, but I am definitely not "old."
Old school? maybe....

Little bit of controversy over that one...

for sure Tyronne Vaughn was offered.. and the other one Terrance Jones was on the list.. but...

Pat Stant was not and he was from bro mart..

LSU's linebackers at the time were very deep and very good..
