How do YOU save money?

I need some money saving tips. I came here avoiding the OT shenanigans, so let's act like adults please.
I've spent 10k in as little as 2-3 months. No major purchases. This is unacceptable considering my monthly bills are only like 1.5k. I need to reevaluate my spending and learn to save better. I'm still comfortable and I'm not in a bind or anything which is why I spend so freely but like I said, theres just no reason for that IMO.
So I humbly ask for your advice and some tips to help spend less. I'd like to be able to throw a large portion of that into savings. And before the "just put it into savings comments". Can you also add some advice to go along with it?

Start using mint.com and track where your money is being spent. You will be surprised at how much you spend on things such as eating out etc.

Write EVERY expenditure on a note pad. You will be shocked at how money you waste.

Agreed. When you see it in writing, you'll be shocked. It'll make you re-think what's necessary and what isn't.

Take your lunch to work. Cook your dinner.
You'll save a ton if you do those two things.

This. There are tons of people who spend at least $20 a day just eating out.

This and writing down everything is what I'm going to do. I found that I spend $15-20 a day just getting trail mix, nuts, sunflower seeds, drinks, etc. at the gas station before work.
Any other tips are greatly appreciated.

Honestly a great thing you can do is put your savings on automatic. Set things up so that every time you get paid, a certain portion is automatically deposited into a 401(k), Roth, or both. You will start cutting back to compensate before long.

Max out your IRA or 401k, once you do that, have automatic deductions into a Health Care Spending Account.

You might evaluate your coffee fetish if you have one ... I make coffee every morning and use my flavored creamer.
NO it's NOT CC's or Starbucks but it's not nearly as $$$ either!

I started clipping coupons, especially with toiletries. Saved 30 buck on a 120 bill.
I'm weining myself off juice/soda
I try not to drive as much. I think $0.50/mile. 20 miles round trip is $10. Ouch
Look for deals. Theyre easy to find these days. If not, haggle

Use cash and cash only.

This isn't a bad idea, but it isn't the best either.
Better is to get a credit card with a cash back reward and be sure to pay it back in full every month.

What kind of credit card offers that? I have a debit card and, I'm almost too embarrassed to say, I thought using the credit option (instead of debit) worked like a credit card. I'd like to get a credit card and use it strictly for one thing. Like a monthly gas bill or something. If I could get one with a cash back option then that would almost eliminate my debit card.

the man is complaining about spending an extra 3-5k a month, the $20 a day on eating out aint his problem.
cut up your debit card and use cash. if you have to actually pay the cash money out for an item i promise you will spend less of it. debit cards are the debil.
