The install took forever and it still isn't done. They had to run a new wire in the back yard, and it hasn't been buried yet. All kinds of other problems; the guy pulled up at 9:30 am and left my house at 6pm. Also he cut all my DirecTV wires and Cox main feed. The DirecTV, ok well this is the last month and its almost over. But I he cut the Cox feed to use the wire. I had to go behind him and fix it. But I'm liking it so far.
The guide is better, the channels change faster, its cheaper (DTV with all channels=$155, add $59 a month for NFL Sunday Ticket months) and I like the Picture in Picture view screen when going through the guide. No complaints so far, besides having to learn new channels. Limited On Demand but I HBO OD is loaded, starting "Game of Thrones".
Kinda wanted to know what other people who switched from Cox or DTV think.
Also I'm mulling switching internet too. I know Cable kills DSL, but the guy was telling me Uverse is more consistent. Still Cox seems cheaper per/Mb.
(tl/dr crowd)
Uverse okay so far, thoughts?

The wife and I switched about 4 months ago, we pay about $10 more a month than when we had cox but we have every channel they offer. Haven't had any problems with it. I actually recommended it to a bunch of friends and they are slowly starting to switch over as it comes up in their neighborhoods.

I felt the HD picture quality on U-Verse was not as good as DTV. The price I was paying for U-Verse was about $25 more than what I am paying now for DTV.

I know a handful of people with UVerse and even the ones that like the television setup don't like the internet. I use it somewhat often at my parents' place and it is not good at all. Slow and has a tendency to cut out.

My Dad just got Uverse a few weeks ago and I was there during the install. I was talking to the installers because I have been thinking of switching for a while. Here's a few points that I found out that I never knew. Let me first say that I can't speak of COX or Directv because I don't have either. I have Comcast here in Houston.
1-You have to have a box for every TV in the house. That doesn't work for me because we have 8 tv's in the house. That would be quite pricey per month for 8 boxes.
2-You can only have 4 streams of TV playing in your house at once. That wouldn't work for me either. With all of the tv's in the house, I venture to guess they are all watching the same thing or the same 4 even.
3-You can only pause/rewind on the "main" tv. That sucks because I'd like to do this in other rooms also.
But, that being said...I liked the service and it had many cool features. Just wish it didn't have these previously mentioned problems (for me). For a lot of people, this wouldn't be a problem at all I'm sure.
Just fyi....

Also true, but i've never had to try it

this is not true for some. I just had an update on mine that allows me to pause, rewind live tv from any box in the house. It just happened a few days ago though.
I enjoy mine, like someone else said i have the highest package plus the sports tier and the Palladia/Red Zone tier and it's only about 10.00 per month more than Cox was. I like the little things that are different about it. How it shows whats coming on next without hitting the guide button and how much time is left on the current show your watching. Stuff like that is what i enjoy.
I have never had an internet/connection problem either

Go to speedtest.net when you get home and run a test. I'm curious to know how fast the Internet is.

If you get Uverse internet, keep in mind it shares the pipe with the TV.
So if you have 2 HD shows playing, with some more recording, your speeds will dive.

That's decent.
I was just wondering. I have Cox and get 30 download and 10 upload. I find myself watching more and more stuff over Netflix and never have problems with buffering.

I only have problems with netflix on my blu ray. The 360 and the wii have no problems. The blu ray is hardwired and everything else is wifi so that makes no sense

Oh yeah, and I forgot one other thing. If you're DVR'ing something, that takes one of your 4 feeds (obviously). So, if someone in the house is DVR'ing 2 shows, that only leaves 2 streams for the rest of the house.

i'll check it when i get home

you can record something and watch something else. at least mine can. at least that is what i think you mean by 'stream'
as for the OP's question about internet...i had regular ATT wireless internet and for 2 years i had a disturbance in my lines to where my internet cut out 10-20 seconds at a time. this went on for 2 damn years. they never could find the problem
since Ive added the UVerse internet, it hasnt done it once.
ive had it for 3 months now.
at times ill play MLB TV through my PS3, have another TV on as well as 2 laptops surfing, and cant really tell that anything is running slow
