The family is out of town, so I decided to not mess up the kitchen and went to Outback in Lewisville. Sat at the bar, and waited. Bartender having a rousing conversation with some girls and ignoring me. Finally, after five minutes he pays attention. Asks what I want and I say, 'a beer'. He points to the tap. Tries, for some reason to push Shock Top on me, and after four tries with me saying I don't like it, I ask what he has in bottles and he looks at me real funny. I had to ask him four times, 'what do you have in bottles' before he answered, 'well what do you like?"

"just tell me what you have".

"I dunno"

Okay, I ask for a Newcastle and they have it. Good. I order. A filet and lobster tail. After ten minutes the salad comes out and my beer is empty, plus... No bread, or even being asked, "would you like some bread?"

I pull up the stopwatch on my iPhone and start the timer and just wait on eating the salad. I'm totally ignored, and there are maybe twenty patrons in the entire restaurant. Finally, at the 10:00 mark, I lost my patience and added a bit of 'emphasis' when I blurted out, "would it help if I stood up on the bar to get some service?" well, I finally got service, but the whole crew seemed disinterested.

When the main course came out, you'd have thought the lobster tail (split in half) was two medium sized shrimp, it was so small. The butter had so much salt in it that it was inedible.

While I sat there, stewing a little, the manager, who had been oblivious to the goings on of her establishment, non-chalantly walks by and says, "how's your meal?"

So I ask if she wants the fresh from the cow version or the homogenized version.

Needless to say, she comped me (except for the brews).

I'd been to this place at least 50 times over the last ten years and this was the first time I'd ever experienced bad service, so I told her it wasn't necessary and that I just chalked it up to maybe my expectations were out of whack. She insisted, so I let her buy me dinner.

Told the wife, later over a phone call, that some woman bought me dinner tonight. She just asked if I had dessert after the dinner.

I went to the Outback in Huntsville on Friday night. My brother and his family were in town, and that's where they wanted to go.

I got there a little early, so I sat at the bar for a beer. I asked the bartender if she had Mich Light on tap, she said no, just Ultra. And asked me twice if I wanted an Ultra. I said, no thanks, and ordered a Bud Light. 3 minutes later, she walks up and says..."Here's you Ultra, sir."

I said, "You mean Bud Light?" and she was like "OMG, I'm so sorry."

I bartended for several years, and this was no big deal. Insisted that she just give me the Ultra she poured and I drank it.

When we got our food, they left off the grilled shrimp from my brothers order. So they brought out a plate with 3 little grilled shrimp. 3!!

Not to mention, my nephew is diabetic, and they kept screwing up his Diet Coke order and bringing him regular. (He was in a soccer tournament and was thirsty as all get out.)

My steak was a little bland, and had no good sear on it. Pretty easy to do when ordered medium.

Anyway, not overly thrilled with the whole experience. The prices are low. A steak and 2 sides for under $15. So I can see how the food and service wouldnt be very good.

Just disappointed because I remember it being better than this.

I tried to convince them to go to Bonefish across the street. Oh well.

You really need to try different places....I've maybe been to outback twice in the last 20 years, and that was only because someone gave us a giftcard

A: This is not the OT, so chill out a little.

B: What in the world did he do wrong?

C: If the OP reads this - he could adjust his thread title so that the subject is a bit more clear.

Just a hunch, but I don't think we're getting the complete story.

This makes you sound like a count and you're probably exaggerating this story.

When someone asks you want to drink and you say "a beer" what the hell do you expect him to do? Say what you want. He's a bartender, not a mind reader.

Also this:

You sound like an a-hole.

All that being said, that does sound like horrible service.

really, though, we're talking about outback. This is bottom of the barrel stuff and I wouldn't go in there expecting good service or good food. It is what it is...

No offense but I LOL when people get upset about service and food from fast food places and chain restaurants. It's still not right to vet treated like that, but you run that risk going places like this.
