I'll be there a few days. Anyone know of any good lunch/dinner spots?

I went to Old Ebbitt Grill by the White House. It's a pretty cool place with good food. Try the jumbo lump crab cake...it's delicious...you can get it as a sandwich combo as well. If you get out to Arlington, I really like Ray's Hell Burger. Been a couple of times and it's one of the best you'll find around!

Good Stuff Eatery on Pennsylvania Ave. - a burger shop by that dude Spike from Top Chef. Burgers are good, and you need to try the Village Style fries (with salt and herbs) using the various mayo combinations (mango-mayo, sirracha-mayo, chipotle-mayo). And next door is his pizza place, but unfortunately didn't get a chance to taste that.

Ben's Chili Bowl
one of the most overrated joints i've ever been to

I think it is called Bistro Beck.Really good!!! Ben's is a Stuckeys type joint, tourist trap deal imo.

Don't bother with Ben's. It's not worth the metro ride into a crappy neighborhood for a chili dog.
Oyamel is pretty good near Chinatown. They have some good happy hour deals if you're looking for that too.

I was actually going to start the same thread just now but saw one was already here.
I am looking for the same thing but also a couple of upscale places to go to dinner.

If you have time to make a reservation, Go to Rasika in Penn Quarter Its Indian food and friggin fantastic. Poste in the bottom of Hotel Monaco is really good too. What type of food are you looking for? Blue Duck Tavern is another one thats good, and as one person already mentioned, Old Ebbit is a traditional tourist spot, and worth a stop.

Marcels on Penn Ave and Citronel in Gtown are two top notch places.

You need to decide expensive/fancy or not. There are great places but you pay for them.

Dollar for dollar, the best eating in DC is going to be ethnic food. Walk though Adams Morgan and stop in to whatever suits your mood. Cant remember names, but have had good sushi, solid ethiopian, etc... in that neighborhood. Rasika is very good.
DC Coast and the other Jeff Tunks spots do a an admirable job as well.

Update from my DC trip. Overall, the tourist stuff was great and a must see for any American. For food, I was able to hit up 3 nicer places for dinner during my 4 day stay. Went to Jose Andres' Jaleo, PS 7, and Brasserie Beck. All of them were very good with PS 7 being the best. We split small plates and apps at most of the places and here are some dishes I remembered.
Jaleo: ultimate Spanish tapa (a salad of potatoes, imported conserved tuna and mayonnaise with Spanish trout roe), Canary Island-style rabbit confit with apricot puree
PS 7: Tuna Sliders (spicy tuna tartare, sesame-seed buns, white miso aioli, cucumber-cilantro slaw), Banh Mini (roasted pork belly, cucumber jalapeño relish, pickled carrot & radish, hoisin sauce)**best thing all trip, salmon involtini
Brasserie Beck: Mussels, grilled octopus, steak tartare, mushroom & spinach crepe.
