the man was a winner and he was really fun to watch. you just had the feeling he had the game under control; wish we had him now as we would have one hell on a NC shot with him under center. retire his jersey? no.

I honestly think we've retired all the numbers we're gonna retire for now. Can't really think of anyone else who has a legitimate case for retirement, of course someone else might.

Do you guys think #7 will be retired if Peterson wins a super bowl and becomes one of the greatest of all time?

No, he didn't graduate from LSU.

If PP would have stayed another year....Yes.

He would've been on everyone's Heisman preseason watch.

It would have been sweet to see him put on the purple and gold for another year. One can dream right?

Just watched that replay of the Earthquake game, and came away thinking if Hodson were Auburn's QB and the Auburn guy our, the War Eagles win that game by 4 TD's.

Hodson is one of the best qbs in lsu history, but I agree that he is not quite worthy of having his number retired.

Imo, in the modern era I think cannon, stoval, casanova, dorsey and kevin faulk are worth of the honor. Pp would if he graduates...I would take josh reed before hodson.

Those guys were 1st team all-americans and won national awards (maybe not faulk?)

IMO, these are the other names that have a chance to appear on the "ring of honor" (in no particular order):

Jim Taylor
Patrick Peterson
Y.A. Tittle
Kevin Faulk
Glen Dorsey
Charles McClendon
Paul Dietzel
Nick Saban
Les Miles

Key words: "have a chance". I'm not saying they will. These are just the people who have enough honor and glory associated with their playing days (NFL or LSU).

Who do I think will make it? Dorsey, Faulk, Peterson, and the NC winning coaches.

I could see making a case for retiring #72. Dorsey's only the most decorated player in LSU history and a National Champ to boot.

Wish we would have had him the last three years, our record would be a lot better than it is. I don't think they should retire his jersey. YA Tittle & Bert Jones, YES!

I use to have a Hodson Heisman poster in my room as a kid. It was right next to this one. It is funny that I can remember this poster almost 23 years later.
