Don't they have a ton of picks in the early rounds? This means that money will have to be spread amongst all these picks. Will that mean he may have to take less money than he was expecting? The D-Rays aren't a system with an extremely deep pocket book huh?

We're not the D-Rays. Just the Rays. And yes money will be spread, but it's not necessarily a bad thing that he got picked by them.

I'm not talking about a good thing for you. I'm talking about a good thing for him money wise.

The Rays only had one other 1st round pick ahead of Mikie and that pick was a pitcher. The next pick after Mikie was also by the Rays.

Yeah. Most of the Rays draft picks this year were due to losing players to free agency. Garza, Soriano, Pena, etc....

foreverLSU02 do not post if you do not know the answer. You can not trade draft picks. You get a comp pick if a player from a team leave to a different team. Also you get the pick before your first round pick if you did not sign the guy last year.

they really do not have too many standout OF hitting prospects. Compared to their pitching guys

out of their 10 picks tonight only 3 were OF

Desmond Jennings is obviously the future. They say Upton could be on the way out. Who knows.

but i think the OP presents a decent question. They have to pay a lot of picks. They are a small market team....chances are slim, but you never know if the Mahtooks will like what they hear.

This happens thru trading away high value players so there is more $ to spread around. He will be paid in a slot equivalent to the pick above him and below him.

Do you really think his agent would take less just because they had more than one first round pick?
