Anybody know anything about the "VOL Navy" that tailgates along the river in Knoxville? Can you bring your own boat? Is it possible to rent?

Bring your own boat. You'll look like a douche with a rented pontoon and 15hp motor.
Go to vol navy boat association website. You'll get everything you need to know from there.

Haha Thanks man. I put in a request to the website. Hopefully they get back to me so I can talk to them about bringing my boat down.

Last time, we went to Calhoun's on the River, which is where a lot of boats set up...know it's not what you're looking for, but could be something if the boat idea falls through...
Really cool atmosphere when we went back in 2006...

I live here in Knoxville and here is what I would recommend: the boats are tied together and everyone walks across each other's boat to get to shore-if you don't want puke/piss on all your LSU stuff I wouldn't do it. Besides, you are better off being on foot around campus, the boat thing gets old after a while. Calhouns is a good place to start off, but it gets overcrowded quickly thus the service starts slowing down and gets poor. If you are looking for good food Knoxville has it. I usually stay down in the Cumberland Ave area, plenty of great places to eat, college girls everywhere, and a brisk walk will get you to the stadium. If you are looking for a hotel room, do whatever you can to stay in Bearden/Downtown, the cops are horrible up and down the interstate traveling back to West Knoxville.

Yeah, that to this day was my favorite road trip. If it wasn't for wanting to take the Dallas trip this year, I'd definitely be going to Tennessee again. The overall atmosphere all over campus was awesome. The boats on the river is something to see. LSU fans took over Calhouns before and after the game.

I go to all of the home games and stay in Fulmer's box with my coworker who is married to his daughter. It is going to be tough to sneak in some purple and gold up there..
