A friend of mine and her husband were recently in New Orleans having dinner, (can't remember the name of the restaurant)while Vince Vaughn and his mother were sitting next to them. She said people kept coming up to him and asking for pictures, etc. and they could tell he was getting annoyed so they didn't bother him.

Well a little later his mom leans over and asks her how her dish was, and some small talk ensued. Well as they're getting ready to leave, the waitress tells them their bill has been taken care of. Turns out Vince paid for their meal, and my friend and her husband ended up finding him in the lobby and thanked him for paying.

Just got me wondering, I'm sure several people have run into celebrities in New Orleans while dining out. Who'd you meet and what restaurant were you in?

Sat next to James Carville at Mr. John's. Didn't meet him or say hi. That was my celebrity dining experience.

Does getting two ounces of Colombian snow for a tip to the kitchen count?

Sat next to Pedro Cerrano at August one night. That's the best I've got.

My parents just sat next to Jean Claude van Damme and Dolph Lundgren. They were eating with another guy at Parrain's the other weekend. My parents didn't even realize until they asked the waitress. They had a feeling they weren't "from around here". My mom called and asked me "Do you know who Dolph Lundgren is?" In my best Russian accent I said......"I'll crush you". I had to explain that part as well!

I have had dinner twice with Morgan Freeman at his restaurant in Clarksdale, MS upstairs at a table of eight both times. After dinner went to his more casual place down the street and played pool with him for a couple of hours. He is by far the nicest celebrity I have ever met. If you asked him if he knew me he would say yes.

Sister and brother in law went to Couchon about a year ago during jazz fest. Table behind them had Eddie Vedder, Michael Stipe, Nicolas Cage and Tim Robbins at it.

Sat next to Eva Longoria and Victoria Beckham at Osteria Mozza in LA last fall. Couldn't tell if the food tasted so good because of the scenery or if the meal was that good. I think a bit of both.

I stopped at a truckstop not long after Katrina(only thing open at the time} in Laplace. This small black man with dreads sits right across from me with his body guard. A bunch of teens are asking for his autograh. We strike up a converstation and it was the rapper Little John.I also had drinks with Red Foxx( Fred Sanford} in Vegas before his death...he was great

Had a couple beers with Eddie Van Halen at the Hartford airport.

Went to the grand opening of the Fashion Cafe in NOLA that was financed by some fine arse 6" models...don't remember all their names but Naomi Cambell and Evangalista plus 2 other's were there.

David Copperfield was also there and did a trick for my daughter who was 10 at the time.

That's all I got.

Phil Hellmuth and I used adjacent urinals while he took a break during the 2001 WSOP. Does that count?

I've hung out with known actors, and plenty of well-known music artists. Friend of mine was top-10 heavyweight fighter, so I've gotten the chance to meet some other famous boxers. I basically see it as hanging out or eating with someone that I know from anywhere else.

The only time I ever get star-struck is the first 5-10 seconds after walking up to them. You've spent years seeing someone on TV or in videos, so it's slightly surreal for me to meet them at first.

My favorite thing about being around someone famous is discovering just how humble some of them can be, despite the attention heaped on them.

When we were kids in the late 50's my dad took myself and brother out to eat, don't even remember the name of the place. Bob Hope was having dinner with Pete Fountain at a nearby table, we asked dad if we could go ask for autographs. He told us not to stare and to leave them alone so they could enjoy their dinner.

Always good advice.
