from the outside looking in (reading the usual comments about this place - and having never been to little village), I can't help but wonder how on earth this place stays open.

The food is all very good and it is an upscale-feeling restaurant without upscale prices all around (although many items are overpriced). But the problem with this place is you have to know precisely what to order.

You can spend $150 just as easily as you can spend $50.

I only go for their Italian. We don't go out for steaks much.. I'm not a huge fan. Their Italian dishes are ~$15 so it's a good deal, but if you've never been and you order the specials not knowing the prices (and one of their overpriced glasses of house wine for $12), you can easily spend way too much.

Their Italian dishes are pretty good from what my girlfriend says. The only times I've gotten Italian were once for veal parm, which was pretty solid (quite a while back), and recently for spaghetti and meatballs. The pasta was really overcooked and oversauced (spaghetti). The sauce was decent, though.

Overall, when we're in the mood for Italian, my girlfriend and I pick Gino's. The entree prices are about the same and we like them better at Gino's.
