I miss McKenzie doughnuts

I miss these doughnuts so much. My grandfather used to bring over a dozen glaze every time he came over, but I havent had them since the shops closed down.

I would pay alot of money just for one dozen glaze.

Why? They were not very good. When i moved to New Orleans I never did understand the love for McKenzies or Manual's Tamales. They were the absolute worst tamales ever made.

A delicious taste of heaven every morning for me when I was in elementary school.

Last time I was down that way I heard rumblings of a reopening in the original building which still stands vacant.

All delicious. And no, the places claiming to sell any of the above McKenzie's pastries may be doing so in name, but not in taste.
