Help out a geographically deprived brother here. Will opening the morganza affect any of the areas shown on the Swamp People show? And if so, what effect would a lot of river water have on the alligators?

Their whole fishing grounds at least Troy, Junior, and Bruce's will be under water. I suspect they might not be allowed to fish due to the destruction of nesting grounds caused by the flood waters. Gator season is in September and flood waters will be in there till at least late summer. Might have to skip a season with the show or find some unaffected fishermen.

Definitely. Troy and Junior are both in the basin. Don't know how it will affect the gators.

Live ones will be good but they won't be able to nest in many areas. The babies usually hatch not long before the season even some during the begging of the season.

It should be low enough by beginning of July, but already too late.

many of the gator farmers have been ht hard by the economy (gator skin is a luxury item) so they didnt harvest many eggs for 2 years. Then the economy started to pick back up but prices were way down so they only harvested some eggs if that. That inflated the price back up so many were gearing up for a full harvest for the first time in 4 years with collecting 800,000 eggs.

This flood waters may really impact the future gator population and cause even more financial hardship for gator farmers.

Gators have already begun hatching this year. Saw a nest with what seemed to be 50 the other day.

no it wont..not for sure...
I one post you say that you believe thay MC will be fine because of the barge that they are putting in the Chene, then in the next post you say that PP will be affected for sure.....

Do you even know what you are talking about??

If MC is going to be fine because of the barge then so will PP

FTR...they are both going to take a hit with or without the barge if the Ganza is opened
