Do any of y'all know what its status is going forward? Also, is it protected by a levee? If not, what is the elevation of the working parts of the refinery?

Thanks in advance and best of luck you everyone in Baton Rouge.

It looks like some of the area west of the railroad can possibly flood because it will be below the river stage. I can't tell if there are retaining walls from the aerial photos. As far as east of the tracks, NOPE!

Interactive map to find ground elevation

Map 2

Both of those sites can be used to find ground elevation.

Thanks for those maps. The second one is great in that you can select various points on a property and get elevations for all of the points individually.

Is the opening of the Morganza spillway basically a done deal and if so, what is the projected crest level?

Yeah, you can pretty much bet on it happening. It should drop the crest level anywhere from 2 to 3 feet.

If you have Google Earth, it's fairly accurate as far as its elevation levels. It's a heck of a lot easier to navigate through. I look at GIS stuff all day at work, and there are several different layers I have to comb through to retrieve data and plot properties.

If you are talking about in BR, all the projections I have heard suggest 1.5 to 2 feet. And I thought I was talking with the people that would know.

Only info I have on exxon is that it the dock is basically shut down and that parts if the plant have some water in it already. Don't think it has effected too much operations, but I have nothing to back that up.

Better check your eyes-too much you-know-what can affect your eyesight.

Been working 12 hour days filling up sandbags-call me in the morning. Both cell phones are shot after today and on the charger.

When I posted my original post I was having dinner with one of the guys who pulled the pumps off the dock today. From what was relayed to me they can't offload without the pumps. Don't know if they can tie up without them.

A tanker couldn't make the bridge.... That's an issue, short term, even if it doesn't flood.

What all are they shutting down? Can't they continue to run most of the plant using pipelines?

All plants have limits on storage. You can only move so much by Pipeline, Rail, Truck, etc. As I've said before some use barges for floating storage. As with most plants, getting in feedstock is not the problem, getting finished products out is the kicker.

Placid in Port Allen will be in better shape than most, it being a little smaller operation (80K/bbls./day).
