I used to have a 18 ft. Hydrosport with a 150 Black Max with a jack plate. That boat was scary fast, I very rarely went all out in that boat.
The guy I sold the boat to wrecked it about a month after he bought it, he was fishing at Manchac and went up on the bank and hit a cypress tree.

I always wore my life jacket when I run the motor and take it off when I stop. So I just started hooking the killswitch to my life vest and I just leave my vest on the seat with the switch still hooked to it while I fish. That way I don't have to think about it.

maybe wearing lifejackets is a freshwater thing, i have never been on a boat where jackets are ever worn. shite i dont even know where they are in my buddys 32 cape horn
