I have a camp in the deep marshes of south louisiana, only reachable by a 45 minute boat ride, I have plenty of rifles and one assault rifle, would like to have shite tons of ammo and a Barrett 50 cal sniper rifle to add to my arsenal, but I could easily live off the land and stay low until the U.S army pushed them out, totally unrealistic senario, but red dawn is one of my favorite movies

No I'm not, I just like guns and shooting them.

not to mention even someone that is "well prepared" would probably be out of ammo after the first good gun battle.

I just don't think it would be as easy as some make it sound to defend the country and wipe out the invading force
The object is not to wipe them out, just break their morale, create enough injuries, etc. Wars are not won by "wiping the other guy out."

Have you seen the roads in LA and MS

Snipe the highest ranking "leader", then the next one thereby creating chaos in the chain of command.
Slip in, surround then, cut off their supplies and starve their arse to the point of surrender.

While I do agree with the private army and US hunters. I often wonder how formidable of a army this would be. If a trained battalion / Platoon / regiment / enteried your neighborhood how long would you make it, even if every body on in your neighboorhood owned a gun. There is only so much a bolt action 30-06 can do when fitting against 150 guys with armored vechiles...heavy machine guns..Full Auto Weapons...and artillary.
That probably depends on the type of action (police, occupy vs. annihilate) and terrain of the area.
There's some pros and cons on both sides that make it an interesting discussion. Of course a lot of generalizations have to be made.
Most foreign troops would probably have seen little real action and may hesitate or be squeamish compared to seasoned hunters who pull the trigger, survey the kill, skin/clean and store/eat.
However, training in combat tactics could be another significant advantage for the Enemy army, depending on the quality of the training/trainee.

Just knowing that there are people like this lurking out there would be reason enough not to invade IMO

Also the arguments are leaving out the fact that there would be a shitton of National Guardsmen with some training and regular forces would be a part of the action also.

Exactly! There is no one to out flank or soften up with artillery in guerrilla warfare. It's not face-to-face in the battle field. It's in the woods/marshes/etc. where hunters have the advantage and numbers.

Coming to this one late but yeah, all the maneuvering in the world won't help you if there's nobody to outflank. I mean unless they're willing to go genocidal on entire sectors but that still wouldn't help them long.
Logistic support for the invaders would be damn near impossible. Interstate or not. There would probably only be large 'battlefields' occur between the army and the invaders. Army including all armed forces including and especially National Guard. But every other waking moment they were here would be under threat of some body like one of us taking a very well placed shot at them and killing someone every day while they can only react from bases.
Would you want to leave a firebase and patrol Louisiana? HELLLLLLL NO.

This discussion is why everyone should own an AR, 308, 30-06, 12 ga.........ammo will be there in a zombie apocalypse.

We have ports all over this country and a good interstate system to move goods...so to think an invading force could not use these would be pretty narrow minded.
So you think all the ports and roads would come through an invasion unscathed? Where would the workers be to unload the ships, repair the roads, etc? You don't think there's enough explosives around to take out bridges, etc?
I think most people (like I know I would) would realize that they have family to protect and wouldn't risk leaving them. This is why that a lot of the "rebel" armies are made up of young men/boys. However, resistence comes in many different forms.

Just think of all the troops that they would lose on patrols. Leave with about 200 and only 100 would return. That loss in enemy moral alone would be enough for us to win

Yeah it's just not possible. There's too many of us and we're too well armed and trained.
