Find me somewhere in the South where you can see for miles to stalk deer and I will do it that way. You can't stalk hunt deer in the deep forests of the South where you can't see further than 50 yards in front of you.

Plenty of places to stalk deer in Alabama. Killed my biggest deer doing that and from the ground from about 150yds.

You can "slip" though into a North wind in bottom land hardwoods. A pair of good binocs, patience....4 steps at a time walking on the balls of your feet.
This works especially well during the Rut.

OP here. Had shite to do today. Found some valid points for your hunting styles here in the thread. Seems that people hunt both styles here after all. I just have a problem with setting up a tree stand and watching a feeder as my brother does and the video I posted does. As someone mentioned earlier, that is just killing, not hunting.

That's your opinion and you're entitled that but it just happens that your opinion sucks

yeah he is a fricking idiot, i suppose it would only be fair to hunt duck if we invent a jetpack and learn how to fly?

And fishing with bait is completely unethical

Wow, hate I missed out on the majority of this. Basically, using a tree stand is merely and option albeit the most popular option, but it's done other ways too. The land I hunt is so grown up with anything and everything that will stick and stab you to the point that its an inpenetrable wall of thorns that stalking isn't a valid option. You just cant be quiet enough. I use stands to set up on travel corridors inbetween food sources and bedding areas. I have three timed feeders that my FIL gave me last year that never saw the woods. When I do put out corn I spread it out on the ground. I believe it appeals much more to the deers insticnt to "browse" for food, instead of just serving it up on a big ole dinner plate.
Anyway, back to the OP hating. frick you, you whiney arse bitch. This is America and I'll hunt any fricking way I want. So you can take your sorry arse opinions and shove them up your arse. Have a nice day.

IMHO, this is the only way to put out corn. I hate feeders.

That's how we used to do it, in Louisiana. But to each his own. It's certainly more difficult that sitting in a stand with a feeder within sight, but it can be done. It just isn't the norm anymore. Hunting changes with technology and culture.

I do it sometimes in MS when I get antsy sitting the stand. If I know I'm in an area no one else is hunting, especially early season, I'll get out the stand around 8 and start sneaking around. I've jumped up quite a few does that way. Really helps you get a feel for your property as well.

Having hunted Colorado in the fashion you find most heroic I can tell you first hand that hunting in Louisiana is a LOT harder. And if you tried to do it like you do in Colorado you'd be one mightily frustrated hunter.
I'm gonna go glassing... ummm... from the top of that cypress over there I guess.

I've never hunted outside of louisiana or miss, but the people I know who have still sweat a good bit when they come to our place
