These, folks, are the career scoring leaders for your beloved Saints (non-kickers). As you can see, Reggie is 8th all-time...4 more TDs and he moves into 6th place. LINK

"But the list of playmakers in Saints history is so short...that stat doesn't prove much."

Well, when it comes to average points per game, Reggie is 2nd all-time (again, non-kickers), only behind the great Deuce. Here's the above list reordered by points/game.

Deuce McAllister 3.51
Reggie Bush 3.4
Marques Colston 3.33
Joe Horn 3
Dalton Hilliard 2.94
Tony Galbreath 2.73
Danny Abramowicz 2.67
Eric Martin 2.01

Let that marinate in your brain for a little bit.

While this is true, it's not this that makes him what he is to this offense. It's him just being on the field.

But recently, (if him Tweeting "It's been fun, New Orleans" is true (relative to the draft/not the Basketball Game)), I don't like that state of mind he's bringing.

Still want Reggie on the team, cut off 4-5 million.

Kind of an irrelevant stat since Reggie is a beneficiary of SP's offense, a luxury the others didn't have.

not really...if anything, the ball is spread around more (as evidenced by Colston being up there in PPG as well) in SP's offense...it's harder for Bush to get touches. To me, that makes his stats more impressive.

still want him around at a reduced salary.

Is his point total impressive enough to overshadow his expectations? I can't say one way or another. The MAIN concern I have is that he has only made it through one season without getting injured.

Reggie will determine his market value, SAINTS will decide whether to match it or not.

IMO, someone will give him more than the Saints should be willing to give him. but you never know, Sean Peyton loves him some Reggie!

Get this list again in 5 years and see where Ingram ranks. I hope it will be higher.

Marinate this

Pierre Thomas who has one less season than Reggie Bush has

25 Total TD's compared to Reggie's 33 and has an average of 3.23 pts per game.

Colston, Lance Moore, Reggie, and Pierre Thomas all in the top 15 of Saints All Time for TDs scored.

Says more about the system they play in than it does Reggie IMO

I think it says more about the league. The NFL has gone from a defensive league to a passing league. Besides some of the great players like Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, John Elway, etc., I would guess that most teams scoring leaders or points per game leaders have come over the last century. It's not the Dome Patrol/Carl Smith for sure.

I hear people say this, but I completely disagree. I don’t think anyone in the league outside of the Saints thinks he’s more than an average 3rd down back. Everyone says he’ll get more elsewhere, and I don’t think he’ll get anything near what we’ll pay him. I definitely think he’ll re-sign at less once he explores other options.

If that's true then we would be overpaying him based on his market value

It isn't worth what we pay him though. LT is the standard i hold reggie to. it is his salary, and hype standard. LT averages basically 1 td a game. that is 6.1 pts a game. Reggie isn't anywhere near what we expected him to be.

He does average over 5 yrds a touch. he should return more. If he is gonna get hurt doing anything might as well take the kids gloves off.

Reggie is great but can't pay the guy 9 Million a year...he got a great deal when he came in and great for him and his agent but I don't think ANYBODY in the league would even pay him 4....he should take the 2-3 he'll get from the saints plus incentives and stick around.

Your stats are misleading as points per game. This is only taking into account the games he played and hasn't missed because of injury. If u use that same number for all the games he should have played in, his production level goes down to what he actually brings to the field.

Not knocking Reggie but his production numbers on a season basis are terrible because of injuries and therein lies the problem with R.B.

I see where you going, but duece and colston have missed games as well. Danny was great and had one fine qb throwing to him. So in production reggie is still up with all time favorites. And i could use the excuse you are making for 3 of those guys. But yes hopefully we will keep him at a reduced price.

Stats are a great tool for many things.

60/80 = 75%
That's the percentage of games Reggie Bush has played in his 5 years (and that doesn't include the games where he was injured and didn't play much).

Here are the attempts, yards, TDs, and avg of two players:
524, 2090, 17, 4.0
357, 2058, 18, 5.8

The top is Reggie Bush. The bottom is Archie Manning.

Just for comparison, here are Pierre Thomas's numbers:
411 attempts, 1939 yards, 18 TDs, 4.7 avg

I don't want the pay a decoy that doesn't produce 11.8 million. That's asinine. If he doesn't take a paycut, he should get cut.
