I hate to start another Ingram thread, but I just wanted to point something out.

2006

Reggie Bush - 2
Laurence Maroney - 21
DeAngelo Williams - 27
Joe Addai - 30

2007

All Day - 7
Marshawn Lynch - 12

2008

Darren Mcfadden - 4
Jonathan Stewart - 13
Felix Jones - 22
Rashard Mendenhall - 23
Chris Johnson - 24

2009

Knowshon Moreno - 12
Donald Brown - 27
Beanie Wells - 31

2010

CJ Spiller - 9
Ryan Matthews - 12
Jahvid Best - 30

Most posters here would have salivated on most of these 1st rounders had the Saints been able to take them. Why the hate for Ingram??

Good point, didn't realize how many successful 1st round runningbacks there have been recently

Could we have gotten someone good enough later? Probably. But why not pull the trigger on this?

Thats why I don't have a huge issue with the Falcons trade for Julio. They were 13-3, division winners, #1 seed and felt they were missing a WR to help get over the top. Why not try to win now?

The Saints have the same window where they are very close to going back to the Super Bowl. I am on board here and will never waiver.

I understand that, but Ingram was the best RB, by far, on the board and a steal at 28. If he pans out, then its a steal at 28 + 56 + next years 1. Its a game of chance....and I like the chance.

What the bleep! A TD post that changed my mind; with actual facts; and loaded with reason.

Nicely done sir.

I had to ask myself, would I give up next year's first round draft choice for:

DeAngelo Williams - 27

Marshawn Lynch - 12

Rashard Mendenhall - 23

Chris Johnson - 24

Arian Foster, Peirre Thomas, Chris Ivory all undrafted FA.

J Charles, 3rd rounder, Micheal Turner 5th rounder.

Lesure, Williams, Hunter, Lewis, Rodgers, Ridley all available.

That's exactly why people get excited about skill position players they know. Tell me how Ingram will do better than Arian Foster, who was undrafted, did last year?

I guess my point was how many of those 1st rounders are complete busts? How many other 3rds or 5ths aren't in the league? How many undrafted guys don't make it? The odds are better for the 1st rounder. Just saying.

Are all of these guys going to succeed? If not which ones will?

What round would you have drafted each of these guys?

Foster would have been drafted high, his last season at UT he didn't play much.

I think the point is that, while you can occasionally find the Pierre Thomases and Chris Ivorys of the world amongst undrafted free agents, your odds are a ton better dealing with first-rounders. They've been solid recently.

The Saints fanbase in AL was already pretty big and with the Ingram pick, it just grew in a hurry.

All of the guys listed above run below a 4.6 40. That's the difference.

Arian Foster, Peirre Thomas, Chris Ivory all undrafted FA.

Two of the above players were evaluated and picked up by the same guys that evaluated and picked up Ingram.

J Charles, 3rd rounder, Micheal Turner 5th rounder.

Everyone knows that you can draft a running back in any round you chose too.

Lesure, Williams, Hunter, Lewis, Rodgers, Ridley all available

Really?
Available to whom? I for one don't have a crystal ball that can predict with such certainty which RB's may or may not be available.

At least we know of one that is not
