would be kind of pointless with the LB/DE guys we have coming in next year to go along with Granier

What worries me is the talk of hatcher at mlb. Might not be a bad thing, but it def means that either minter isnt ready to step up and may not be as good as i hoped for a future mlb. Also could mean that it would be better to kepp baker outside cus none of the other young guys are ready to step up in his role.

Baker, Hatcher, Francois. Not too promising chavis.

Strictly going on the spring game. Hatcher did not play and it was mentioned they really wanted to get him some snaps mlb. Taking over sheps spot. No mention of minter or baker doing that.

But then again ESPN hates LSU

there was some talk of Hatch getting reps at all 3 LB spots, but he'll mainly be at the Sam. Minter's taking Shep's spot, and Welter's gonna back him. I think they kicked around putting Baker there but will leave him outside.

How tall is Rasco? Around 6'3" I think. That is not your typical middle linebacker height. That is probably too tall. If he is tall but plays low then that would be OK. In looking at the best middle linebackers around they typically are 6'2" or shorter. It is a position like defensive tackle (nose guard, 1 technique inside guys) and fullback where low leverage and pad level are important. Typically those taller guys play outside linebacker. The inside guys are the shorter more compact guys. There are always exceptions but the Mike Singletary, Ray Lewis, Jon Vilma guys follow the mold I described from what I know of Rasco he isn't that body type.

Bradie James and Kelvin Sheppard were productive as taller Mikes, but you're correct in that >6'2 has disadvantages.

you don't happen to be the guy that suggested Trindon Holiday move to DE?

I honestly would rather have Mathieu at LB than hatcher as ridiculous as that sounds.

give the guy a break man!

I too considered Rasco as a supersized Mike, à la Bradie and Kelvin, but the more I look at our pass rushing DE's (Sammo and Keke) the more I think he'll fit right in.

Rasco should continue to be a very good DE for us, and as Chavis said, become one of the best in the league, then move to OLB once he goes to the NFL. It happens all the time and there is nothing wrong with not playing that position at the college level. Just find a 3-4 scheme that is looking for OLB help and he's gold.

I'm sure this is tongue-in-cheek, in the same vein as the "Trindon Holliday to DE" suggestions were.
