How big of an impact will the new parking fees really have on tailgates?

I know of two groups now that are disbanding. They werent huge setups, average size i guess. I'm pretty sure most of the people in it still plan on tailgating. They're just not gonna do their own setup due to all the parking hassle.

Do you think we will see less small to average krewes and therefore the larger krewes just get that much bigger as they absorb the people from the smaller krewes?

Yep, but the majority won't be affected.

I don't tailgate for every game, usually just the big one considering the cost. I'll probably still do that based on how this parking situation works out. Or I'll just park behind the law school where there is no fee.

$50 for a trailer no matter where you park it on campus.
$40 per car in some spots
$20 per car in some spots
and some spots are free.

basically it just depends on how close you are to the middle of campus as to how much you have to pay per car. there's a map on lsusports.net that lays out the charges.

yea I know, that's why I said I would wait and see. I think it's just going to be a ridiculous mess.

I know when I went to UGA in 09 they charged $50 for most lots around campus to "tailgate". You couldn't even truly tailgate on campus unless you had a greek or school sponsored tailgate. AND you couldn't even be there more than 3-4 hours before kickoff. It sucked overall. Hope LSU doesn't come to that point.

I think they'll be some drop off and those spots on Stadium Dr. by the Ag Center are going to go quick. I expect a complete cluster-frick for the NSU game.

I'm just wondering how they are going to sell the passes. Campus is already a total cluster frick on fridays as it is. Toss that in with rabid tailgate afficianados hustling in to get their pass and spots!? Sounds like a f'n disaster.

also, im not really trying to go down the road of bitching about the parking. we've done that enough. its a fact of life we have to get use to.

im more asking about how you think the dynamic of tailgate krewes will looks this year. i can definitely see a lot fewer small to medium size tailgates around campus this year.

probably have a lot more floaters as well.

If they don't figure out a way to let people buy passes ahead of time it will be nightmare to get inside the easy streets gates unless you're there @ 5am. That's really my only issue with all of this. The money sucks but it's a necessary evil if we want to keep up in the SEC arms race.

No impact. People will pay up and kick and scream while doing so but eventually they will quit crying.

I know we all need gas but a few years ago when gas was just hitting $3 a gallon everyone was ranting and raving now it is $3.50+ and everyone seems to have accepted it.

Over time it will be accepted as the way it is.

Oh yeah, definitely. The one thing it will cut down on, and we have this problem in the lot by us, is the people that drive in to campus to only stay a few hours and leave.

We get that a lot where we tailgate. Just when you get all your shite set back up the a-hole is sitting there in his/her car wanting to get out of the lot. Pisses me the frick off.

Exactly. This is really going to eff my world up since the pregnant wife may come to every tailgate but may get to tired to stay the whole time or go to the game. In the past we could take 2 cars and she could leave early, now I will have to pay for 2 passes for every game for that to happen.
