Me and a couple of buddies are lookin to take a 5-7 day hiking trip as soon as school ends. Anybody got some suggestions of places they've been with some nice trails, maybe runnin next to a river? Any suggestions are appreciated, TIA.
Also: I prefer suggestions of places that you've been/had experience with, not something you googled.

Smokey Mts. Have some beautiful trails I did for a few days when I was younger. App Mts are also very good.

Lost Man Trail West of Independence Pass in Colorado. High altitude and 8.8 miles. Then do the Maroon Bells hike. After that go to the NYC pizza joint in Aspen.
Thank me later

Smoky Mountains and Colorado sound nice, but we don't want to travel more than probably 4 or 5 hours. Anybody got something around there?

You're gonna have to go further than that to make a 5 day+ hike.

Try the Ruston State Park and hike the bike trail. Also, the State Park in Farmervile & Caney Lake in Jackson Parish are pretty cool.

Closest place might be Big Bend over in West Texas. You could do a Friday thru Sunday thru hike of the Wild Azalea Trail, from Woodworth to Valentine Lake. It's about 32 miles. That's probably the longest hike w/in 5-6 hour drive for you.

Y'all should look into doing a multi day conoe trip. Fun as helll and the water will feel great.

Personally I'd go to Sand Rock in northeast Alabama. You NEED to bring some ropes, harnesses, and webbing to climb the rocks you can get to the top of, but the place is legit. It's car camping but there is caving and a good deal of trails to hike at the base of the climbs. Y'all HAVE to at least boulder to make it worth it. There is a river close that you can day trek down. Leave one car at the bottom. Cool spots to swim and dive too. Research Sand Rock, it's a super neat place.

go up to Northern Arkansas for a few days. Canoe, fly fish and hike. It offers a little elevation.

This is what I would suggest
The Azalea trail in Kisatchie near Alexandria is roughly 30 miles. Y'all could stretch that out for 3 days. It's not a loop however.

+1 on northern Arkansas. I have family in mt home. Very beautiful landscape up there. A trip down the white river is hard to beat. Y'all could put in around mountain home and just camp your way down the river for a few days

Most of the guys in our group won't be experienced climbers, lookin for something a little easier

Is there somewhere around there that we can rent kayaks or canoes?

There are canoe rental places everywhere on the White and Buffalo rivers.
Do a 3 day float trip. Y'all would have a blast. Plus it's easier, you don't have to pack all your gear, just load up the canoe.
