Disagree. It really got under my skin the first time I watched it especially the ending when the camera panned away. Looking back it may seem a little over the top but any movie that can take me out of my comfort zone at least once is good enough for me.

I need some clearing up here. Is there two versions of the film? A Asian version and the Americanized remake? If so I saw the American version and I really think it's pretty awful. Unbelievably stupid characters makes it hard for you to even care.

It's unsettling yes but I've seen films that accomplish that and have more substance (Irreversible). My problem is that it just manages to be the same torture pron drivel that the Saw films and many other "horror" films of the past few years.

I would either vomit or shite. Depending on which part of the centipede I was.

If I'm not mistaken there is just one version. It's Dutch.

I can't believe this movie has warranted two seperate multi page threads.

A third, and we might even be able to combine all three!

Saw series is garbage and I think THC is way better. Maybe it's the lack of "plot twists" and just straight-forward depravity that I like about it. And I wasn't expecting substance like in Irreversible. I wanted to see someone who is surgically attached to an anus and force fed shite while a mad doctor raves "Feed her!." Are you kidding me? How is that not great cinema?

And like I said, looking back, this movie seems more like an over-the-top quasi-exploitation movie than a disturbing torture porn movie. I mainly attribute that to Dieter Laser's awesome performance

Definitely one of the best scenes in the movie.

You're right. I'm stumped how this was missed by the Academy.

You seem to have a one-dimensional view of what "great cinema" is. And the Academy Awards is certainly not a standard of it I can assure you of that.

Jeez, after watching that scene, for months I couldn't take a dump without hearing that lunatic and apologizing profusely.

I think you're equivocating when you take a challenge to make it through the movie at the same value as a challenge to preconceived notions.

A film like this can be repulsive, but on a much more visceral level than something your higher intellect cannot accept. If I were uncomfortable while watching it, I wouldn't claim that it was because I couldn't wrap my head around the idea of a human centipede. I'm sure you and I have similarly boundless imaginations.

I'm not dictating that you can't enjoy a film just because it makes you squirm... but I just might be a little concerned about that if that were the case, and if I were your friend. If you truly appreciate that quality in a film, I might assume that you struggle to find emotional stimulation.

So if I watch this I'm pretty much guaranteed for being scarred for life. Are there at least some quality tits involved?

Maybe the rest of the day at the most. Unless you are a pussy.

F that movie. Disgusting. The girl on the end died from some kind of face/shite infection.

Really makes you reconsider using the phrase "eat shite and die"

I have righteous indignation. I'm not much on smut. Can't believe this was distributed in the US.

You have good points I just can't get on board. Watching it I was bored, the same feeling I had from a film like Hostel or other torture porn films. Sure it was different from those but just watching the horrifying experience of the victims and torture of it all was completely uninteresting. It didn't help me that the girls were stupid as rocks.

It's shock value and such works but I just didn't get much out of it.

Gotta admit, the "feed her!" scene was something else.

Here's Tosh's take on the Human Centipede. Warning it's long (30 min ish) but hilarious, especially if you have seen the movie.
